Racism is alive and well. As your post clearly demostrated.
Ummm. excuse me?

What, EXACTLY, in my post, was racist?

2 of my best 3 pilot friends are black, genius. I'm about as far from racist as it gets.

Just because I don't believe the EEOC is necessary anymore doesn't make me racist.

For the love of Pete...

I'll bet most of you don't know the real definition of Racism.

I know for sure that many minority leaders have no clue what it is. They demonstrate their ignorance everyday on TV and the radio.

To most people, especially the younger generations that were raised by MTV, racism is saying something that black people don't like. Also, they believe that only white skinned people can be racist.

According to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary Racism is defined:

1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race (cough..Jerimiah Wright/Barack Obama..cough)

2 : racial prejudice or discrimination

*Notice there is no mention of any specific race.

Today, though, racism means several things. Basically its a word that minorities throw at white people because of 2 reasons:

1. Nobody wants to labeled a racist in our ultra politically correct country and

2. usually they have no intelligent argument or explaination for their behavior so they just throw out the "R" word.

Just because I don't believe the EEOC is necessary anymore doesn't make me racist.

Regardless of your view of racism in modern society, the EEOC serves a lot of purposes that have absolutely nothing to do with race. Even if we magically became a completely color-blind society tomorrow, we would still have reason to have the EEOC.

Crime scene?

Sure, next thing they'll do is pursue it as a "hate crime". Enter the FBI.

Also, it has not been determined who placed the doll in the cockpit (or into the noose for that matter). If they were not authorized, then the TSA could get involved due to a security breach.

Could get messy...

Maybe everyone just needs to get thicker skin. Noose in the cockpit? As long as it wasn't wrapped around anyone's neck, who the F cares. If I'd have found it I would have thrown it in the trash and gone about my day.

What a joke.

Hmmm. When I lived in Sec. 8 housing (flight school) I used to get crap said to me all the time by the "locals". I guess that isnt prejudice. Must be justice.....not.

You are right, to an extent.

The fact that some moron actually took the time to tie it and maybe even planned it by bringing a cabbage patch kid from home astounds me.

Whoever is responsible is an enourmous bag of feminine cleansing product.

(what the heck is wrong with saying ******************************?)

This isn't racist a comment?
Yeah, but I didn't feel the need to go there; I don't hate anyone (except maybe airTran management who simply have no conscience).

Plus, I don't drive an SUV and I don't shop at Costco so I wasn't offended... Besides, I drive a 6 cylinder Camaro, but I *DID* cut my mullet after college. ;)

Some people on here need to lighten up...

I think the real question is where the hell'd the person who did this get a cabbage patch doll anyway? Showing the age a bit. :D

At least it wasn't a "moose" in the cockpit. That would have been a real mess!!

You smarta55! I was hoping no one would say moose because I was going to. I read the whole thread saying to myself "I hope no one uses the moose angle" Dang it!. BTW, Mooses, or "Meese" have been held down by "The Man" for years and years. 'Bout time they were able to sue someone.

Thanks PCL. My point was racism never ended "20" years ago. It still happens everyday, in and out of the flightdeck. I see, hear and live it.

BTW, I broke no laws nor comitted any moving violations that evening. When it happens to you, then you'll understand. Back to your cave....man.

Hey, it's not just white people. There are plenty of racist blacks in this world too.

I would laugh my a$$ off if this turns into the next JENA 6..... Maybe they will have another million man march over it...

Man, I hope they find that a black Cactus pilot put that doll in there. Please, please, let that be the case.

Lear, I really don't post much as I'm as casual observer on these boards. I enjoy the banter as much as anyone, but this post was absolutely and totally ignorant.

You must be a WASP living in the burbs, behind a gate and happily driving your SUV to Costco on days off. I can tell you as a Mexican American, college educated airline pilot I have been treated unfairly countless times.

One night inparticular, as I was driving to a friends house in an affluent commnity I was stopped. My passenger and I were each questioned seperately, backgrounds checked and then left with a stern warning. "If there are any reports of activity in this neighborhood tonight, you two boys are the first I'm looking for" This what the cop said to us. Maybe my "airport" car looked out of place, but my money is on my skin color.

Racism is alive and well. As your post clearly demostrated.

I totally agree that racism is alive and well.

For example, I was driving through a hispanic neighborhood here in the South Phoenix area when all of a sudden my car starts getting hit with rocks. I look over and its men and women doing it...and they weren't the gangbanger kids that you'd think would be doing that. They were just angry that a white person was in their 'hood. Then they called me some racial names. Thats about the time I stepped on the gas pedal. Alot of my friends have similar stories Mozzer so I know exactly what you're talking about.

Look at the bright side...at least you don't feel like your life is in danger when you drive through white neighborhoods.

Now, now. He does have to worry about getting run over by a soccer mom on her way to COSTCO.

Wow, what a bunch of racist pricks on this board. Just goes to show that racism is alive and well.

No one gives a darn until the race card gets played. And folks are sick of it because it rears its head all too often in places it doesn't belong. When some "reverend" shows up and blackmails a company with legal action and bad press into hiring people of a certain race, that is going to cause some hard feelings. The USA isn't a charity organization, although there is a growing disease called liberalism that assumes just that. You can do well for yourself here with hard work and an education; things the liberals would like to replace with things called welfare and affirmative action.

The biggest racist alive is black, Al Sharpton. Racism is alive, just read the newspaper. And for the Mexican-American who was harassed, do what everyone else does-SUE. Its the American way.

Why are white people the only ones that are required to be racially tolerant? The same rule doesn't apply to folks of color. Blacks and Latinos can be as bigoted as they please and none hold them to account.

You must have spent some time in the A T L. Racism is alive and well here and it most certainly goes both ways when it comes to black v. white.

Edit: Oops, didn't see N1VIBS post just a bit above mine. Glad I'm not the only one who has noticed!

This guy is a perfect example of the point I made earlier. He has no intellectual argument so he just goes around calling everybody racist.

Are we supposed to be intimidated or something?
