That was clearly not racially motivated. Just someone looking to hit the USAir lotto with racist currency. White cabby and union letters. BTW, those who are old enough, do you recall all the hoopla surrounding the purchase of a Cabbage Patch doll during the holidays back in the early 80's?

And racism is very much alive in this country. Like it or not. They say more educated folks are less prejudice, but it's more an issue of tolerance than unity and symbiotic bonding.

Most of you are missing the point. While I appreciate the "dialog" on "race and what it means in America," I am a little disappointed that no one has pointed out what a moronic and unprofessional act this was. I can only hope that the flight crew wasn't involved.

Irregardless of the purpose behind the "baby lynching" it shows an unbelievable lack of foresight and professionalism on the part of the person(s) committing the act.

If it was a pilot that did this:

Why don't you East and West guys just pee on each other in the terminal. It is just as mature and accomplishes the same thing (nothing).

Been there...done that.

The modern racism conversation is intellectually dishonest at best. Everyone has traces of racism and prejudice coursing through their veins. Speaking to the contrary is what's truly ignorant. There are exclusive groups for every race.....why? I will admit that there are more for minorities than whites, but there are exclusivities in every race. NAACP, La Raza ("the race"), Hair Club for Men, etc.... Minorities are really talented at being victims. This is truth and not ignorance. If I were a minority, I would be pissed that my activist leaders in our community think we are too stupid to do things ourselves and need handouts and special accomodation to do what everyone else is doing on their own.

These discussions are bull$hit because people do not have the sack to speak the truth. We are all cowards and the minority communities know it. This is why they are quick-draw McGraw when it comes to blaming their problems on their race. It is the quickest get "out of jail free" card out there. Why are white people the only ones that are required to be racially tolerant? The same rule doesn't apply to folks of color. Blacks and Latinos can be as bigoted as they please and none hold them to account. If you ever wonder, listen to thier radio shows or television shows. Rev. Wright wouldn't be on the news if he didn't know a Presidential candidate, personally. Sadly, his rhetoric happens everyday without consequence.

I am not a bigot, but I am prejudice. How can anyone not be? Dumbass is an equal-opportunity term, but when it falls on minorities it has to be someone elses fault.

p.s. PCL and the moderators are sure to blast away, so have at it. I don't expect my post to last thirty minutes before it's pulled.

At least it wasn't a "moose" in the cockpit. That would have been a real mess!!

True dat ( maybe)...but in the case of the white guys that were hung....it was done with a trial, judge and a jury.

In the case of blacks....if the townfolk felt like an injustice was done ( like breaking a jim crow law or something)...then that black man was strung up byt the men-folk, without the benefit of a court of law, jury, or a judge present.

...all done with a wink and a nod from the local sheriff.

How much of the injustice that blacks faced in the south in the first 64 years of the 20th century was precipitated by the undue influence of white northern liberals? Blacks were unfairly targeted as the bait that brought these white liberals into the deep south where they were intent on upsetting as much of the social order as possible in the name of civil rights. Many innocent blacks were victims of a violent backlash.

The south had lost alot of its power and influence after the Civil War and many whites deeply resented being looked down on by Northern White Liberals who felt they knew better how the social order should be in the south. Violence was the price for rapid change to generations-old ideas. Was it worth it? Has the face of poverty in the south changed much in the last 100 years?

Racism has morphed into classcism. People aren't necessarily prejudiced against the color of someone's skin, but more from their identity to a different sub-culture (gangsta, suburbanite, hip-hop, etc.). We have become more tribal and less of a melting pot.

Alot can be gained from trying to look at a problem from all viewpoints, not just what the media dishes out.

Having said that, this case more than anything else, gives folks a glimpse of how much animosity there is between the east and west pilot groups. People are driven over the edge with deep-seated hatred over feeling like there is no justice and they are just along for the ride ( a foreign concept for pilots). How Doug Parker can sleep at night when every day he abdicates his responsibility to lead the airline, is beyond me.

Racial??? The Cabbage Patch kid with "new Union" written on it? Does anyone read these boards and not see the proverbial "hate and vitriol" feces Westies and Easties throw at each other?

Shouldn't be hard to track down the individual who did it. If it is treated as a crime scene -which it might-they'll be able to pull a print off the doll or rope and match the FBI data base.

Crime scene?

Thanks PCL. My point was racism never ended "20" years ago. It still happens everyday, in and out of the flightdeck. I see, hear and live it.

BTW, I broke no laws nor comitted any moving violations that evening. When it happens to you, then you'll understand. Back to your cave....man.

Yes......racism isn't dead. But there's more black on white racism than ever in our world.
