Besides, you really don't want to end up on the bottom of a very large seniority list with all those NJI guys. :D

I told everyone to wait for it.....and here it is. Staple, staple, staple, blah, blah, blah. Really Griz, you shouldn't be so predictable.

It actually took a few more posts than expected.

comon zman we'd all love to hear the ways to massage a logbook to get that time? Lets hear it.

What do you care? It's not about massaging anything, fool. It's about how the military logs your time. Let me see what I'm working with here; please answer the following:

You're the "A" code on a 21 hour leg; you have an augmented crew. What will your military flight log look like at the end of the leg? Break it down for me.

So, you are saying that pilots have been hired at NJI with less than the stated mins before. If that is the case then I'm sure the owners would be very interested in that little piece of information. I wonder what owner contracts state about pilot qualifications? Now let's talk about the pilots that applied to NJI in the past and were turned down because they were under the mins but didn't have a naval aviator to grease up the backside. That sounds like a potential hiring practices investigation by the labor department.

Thanks for your service, but don't get on here with a "holier than thou" attitude slamming an organization of pilots, for pilots, and run by pilots. You might feel a little better slamming 1108, but you did a disservice to your fellow service men by what you posted. I don't expect you to understand, and can't wait the follow-up post.

To qualify as a NetJets International pilot candidate, you must have the following prerequisites:
  • Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (Multi-Engine Land)
  • Current FAA First Class Medical certificate
  • 5000 hours total pilot time
  • 500 Gulfstream hours (preferred)
  • Gulfstream type rating (preferred)
  • Crewmembers must live in the Continental US and within 1 hour of an airport with scheduled airline service

Well, those haven't always been the mins. So yes, some pilots were hired below these current requirements.

Let's face it: the number of hours doesn't necessarily mean anything. You could have 30,000 hours in a Cessna flying around the pattern, and you ain't gettin' hired at NJI! Those numbers are there to keep thousands of applicants vying for 30 positions a year from becoming tens of thousands. The company considers your flight hours, of course, but more importantly, they put more weight on the QUALITY of those hours. Our owners are assured they have the best trained, most qualified pilots (same at NJA, I might add); I've never heard one complain they got cheated on that score. Well, I've never heard an NJI owner complain, at least.

Spyguy,

There are a lot of guys with significant time in the military at IBT1108. A pretty good percentage of them are either still serving in the Guard/Reserve or are retired like myself. While I truly appreciate your service, I wonder how Teamsters Local 1108 requiring NetJets, Inc. to live up to it's obligation to not change the hiring status quo during the three year LOA period has anything to do with your service? You don't meet the published minimums. Deal with it.

I missed a number of great opportunities during my service but those were decisions I made. I never tried to blame someone else for my lack of time or timing to make a potential job work out. Time to suck it up and move on.

Besides, you really don't want to end up on the bottom of a very large seniority list with all those NJI guys. :D

What are you guys doing at work today?

It's May Day - The International Day of the Socialist Worker and the official position of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters is in support of "A Day Without Immigrants." Barak Obama, Democrat Senator from Illinois, even spoke today in support of the illegals from a Teamster podium in Chicago.

Where's the unity and solidarity with your brothers?

Yeah, I know it's flame bait, but who could resist?

I think we should try a 'Year without(illegal) Immigrants.' I'd gladly pay more for my produce to stop the increases we've seen for social services and health care. It's past time to start cleaning out illegal havens like Homeland did last week.

Green card teamsters, welcome! Everyone else go back and get in line.

Unfortunately, our elected officials have no stomach for this approach.

I've seen my share of embarrasing speakers at teamster podiums, some guests and some officals. It's a big tent, to borrow a phrase.

Who really cares 21 hrs is 21 hours. It's the total time that stopping him not the breakdown.

You didn't answer my question. "Who really cares?" It can make a huge difference (and it DOES affect your total time), and that's just one scenario. So, answer the question and you will understand.

total time is total time.

I bet if all the military guys jump in you'd get 10 different answers.. thus the PM.

Now that you've peaked my interest lets see how it breaks down. I could call some friends and ask them but it's cocktail time.

Adios
