"Loose" rhymes with "noose", "lose" rhymes with "shoes".
Consumers don't get anywhere near the kinds of generous bankruptcy protections that corporations enjoy.
In related news, Michael Vick is suing the guy who invented dogs.......
So, out of curiosity, what exactly is the hourly monetary value of 90 people?I have heard a number around 35-40 suits. If they want us to fly 86 people pay us for the responsability of 90 people NOT50!!!!!!
This thread makes me sad. Show a little compassion fellas.

You're kidding right? "A quick buck so he can live the life of his dreams?" He has to sue someone....he's the only one alive that anyone can come after legally. Im sure he won't EVER be living "the life of his dreams"
UNBELIEVABLE!
I like the tough bravado talk of pilots on here, including Mega, who have no personal stake in this, have not been effected, and no responsibility, to spout off at the mouth.
Compassion and empthay are for ones w/ strong character. Indifference and malevolence are for the weak...
obviously the best plan would be to let all the lawsuits come out against him as well as medical bills and then declare bankruptcy to wipe the slate clean. that would be the easiest thing to do.
Coming from a pansy machismo sexist, I'll take that as a complement. Have fun getting manipulated your entire life by people that seek out your compassion and empathy and use it to their advantage strong bull.
Maybe he should sue the people that planted the trees off the end of the runway too.....
Do you actually disagree with what he says? Do you have a personal stake in this? Are you directly affected by this? I wish you could see what this guy looks like now. But maybe your right. Let's just flame any easy target with nothing left to loose. Nothing. When exactly did this guy seek out our compassion? He is the sole survivor of a horrible accident(unless maybe you're suggesting he crashed, got maimed, disfigured, paralyzed, etc. etc. on purpose) and I don't recall seeing him once on Oprah, or any other show looking for sympathy.
Have fun with the public backlash and total lack of sympathy the day you f*** up. You deserve it, F***in B**ch!:angryfire
By the way, if I was in his shoes, I would have probably put a gun to my head already. I don't think I could emotionally handle a bunch of blood money hungry vultures coming after me, especially since they know all that he has endured. He has just sunk to their level with this lawsuit.
Where is ALPA's "protection" on this one? The way I see it, if my union is going to talk up "protection", I shouldn't have to worry about having to sue everyone in sight to save my arse.I dont think that he had a choice in suing them. He was being sued by everyone and his attorney probably had to try and deflect the blame.

Certainly more than we're being paid now. We under-estimate our own responsibility. So, out of curiosity, what exactly is the hourly monetary value of 90 people?
I've read it estimated at 5mil per pax in liability... 450mil + Aircraft+ personal property on the ground... adds up quick.
Excellent post. Some Corporate pilots I am friends with got disoriented with the layout and incorrect charts within 48 hours of the crash.I don't see how anybody who watched the NTSB hearing on this is surprised by Pohelinke's actions. This crew was given no warning the taxiways were changed the night before. There was nothing on the release, nothing on their Jepp charts, and nothing on the ATIS. Both of the flights that departed before had notations on the release about the taxiways. Even the Eagle FO admitted to the NTSB he was mometarily confused as they were taxiing out. It was one of the most contentuous NTSB hearings on record, with two members filing the NTSBs version of a dissenting opinion (including the one who was the onsite investigator in LEX).
This does not excuse the crew's failure to notice the incorrect heading. But it also should not allow others with culpability in this accident to walk away unscathed. Hopefully Pohlenke's suit will direct the attention to some others that deserve blame in this as well.

What do you think of the AMR pilots wife in the LIT accident that sued the airport for incorrectly installed structures at the then end of the runway... she won.
