We both agree that off line jumpseats is a very important quality of
life issue for many pilots.

Having a job is a least as important a quality of life issue as a ride to work. Perhaps Astar's ALPA unit will back off trying to legally corece the customer into ceasing to do business with ABX.

I think it’s a valid point but that’s ok, I respect your opinion Clipper. Honestly (and I mean honestly) I have never really thought about that very much. All ALPA has ever asked for is that the grievance be arbitrated. And we all know what that process will produce...split of the baby. It’s not very realistic to believe an arbitrator would render a decision that in effect would kill ABX and cost DHL million$. We are most probably stuck with each other for many years. I believe there is a better possibility that Hete will look for a higher return for his stockholders and pursue other more lucrative acmi business with other customers.

Time to drink beer now, like my bro said...good luck to us all.

Thanks Sky,

I really do appreciate your response. I think most Astar pilots feel as you do. I will continue to offer my jumpseat to ER guys, three in the past week. I would never make off line jumpseats a political issue, never. In fact, I look at it as a good opportunity to discuss the issue with our ER brothers so they may better understand our view, and we may see their side as well.

The way I see it, if we don't answer you will assume, if we do, you won't believe us, come on Clipper. This seems to be what you are hunting for, and are under the impression that we are trying to do to you. Give me a break!!! How about y'all, what would happen to astar and its pilots if the situation was reversed?
Oh wait, thats right, its not a valid question. Sorry!

Thats it for me,I'm done with this thread, good luck to us all.

Come on Goastar,

You took the cowardly way out on this one. I am hunting for your opinion that is all. If you have noticed I am not the flamebaiter on this board. Once again, your only answer to the question is to turn it around and claim that ABX would be doing the same thing if the suitation was reversed.

2% is Rhoid.

You mean freightnazi, the former ABX now current DC8 pilot who's good friends with the former ABX DC8 standards pilot? not me.

Astar ALPA convened on Aug 8-31 eve to discuss scope, successorship, et al. I assume they met primarily to discuss securing their respective positions and procuring all subsequent flying from DHL. Obviously these efforts aim to exclude ABX from flying DHL freight. This language has been included in their contract since prior to consolidation. Their MEC seemed privy to the spin-off and now appear (feverishly working on scope) to be hastily shoring up the loose ends. I believe one of the above authors may have even chaired that meeting.

ABX Teamsters doesn't seem quite so concerned. Not sure why. They definitely received the short end the last time. You know the one about squeaky wheels... blah blah.

Sorry 2%, but I think you are. You obviously have "no dog in this fight", and do nothing but try to stir up trouble. If you aren't Rhoid, then you're his long lost cousin. You don't have a clue what you're talking about.

Heavy:

I think I am two-percent. In fact, I'm low fat. Ask any ABX jumpseater about "2" and they'll tell you I speak nothing of the truth. Sorry I meant to say nothing but the truth.

two-percent out

I think you had it right the first time. LOL Just because you listen to our hotline doesn't mean you know what the discussion was at our meeting, except it concerned scope. I will say it one last time. We are not out to get ABX off the ramp. I'm done with this conversation too. It's going nowhere. Good luck to all.

Does anybody (besides me) remember that episode of "The Twilight Zone" in which the guests at a suburban garden party see some weird lights and hear funny noises, and assume they're evidence that space aliens are about to invade earth? Neighbor begins turning against neighbor, until the entire community sucombs to anarchy.

As the camera's point-of-view fades back, you see these 2 aliens sitting in their flying saucer. One says to the other, "See, we don't have to destroy the earthlings. All we have to do is incite a little fear and uncertainty in them, and they will destroy each other."

I tell ya, it's like deja-vu all over again...

How was that scope meeting for Astar on Thur. evening?

Went well, thanks for asking...
This meeting was no secrete. AAC has obligations to our CBA. They are not living up to those obligations and this meeting included an update about that (sound familiar?).
