Don't lump us all in the same group. I bid the 18 day because I must. I'm holding up my family, my parents in law, and doing my best to pay off debt from many years of being a CFI (back in the $8/hr days), sh1t wages and 2 moves for 3 airlines, two of which no longer exist, and a defunct corporate flight dept.
I'd happily work less if I could afford it.

I guess it's really a good thing then, that none of the 495 have families to support, were furloughed at previous companies, or have debt to pay off. So really there's no need for union solidarity in this matter.

What about union members who don't agree with the union? Should your opinion be the only one allowed? Just askin.

What does this question have to do with the price of tea in China?

Says the guy not furloughed... you would have a different perspective trying to do that while starting over again in china, india or the box, or if youre lucky in the states in a RJ or flying for some ******************** supp carrier... You and a lot of others that are on the 18 day and those picking up extended days need to have a slice of humble pie...

What people forget is when taking a job you figure what it pays and can you make ends meet or some other goal. So now they have to figure in -X$ to account for other peoples layoffs and bad times in this industry by the way is pretty much always. Socialism at its best.

I'm not trying to start anything but I always looked at our pay with the 7&7 as a base pay and others 15/18 day as OT.

We are working our BUTTS OFF!!! We desperately need our furloughed brethren back!
I don't want to give anyone false hope but I bet before the ink dries in our new contract, that the company will be calling the furloughs back.

If they called them back now, it would hurt their leverage, and isn't it funny how the company states that they want this contract done quickly???? I wonder why??? It is because they know we are short staffed!!!

No.

It's hurting their ability to honor existing commitments.

Fly till you cannot, then reschesdule yourself to a hotel room for 14 hours.

I think the closer reality is that pilots coming out of fleets in disposal are being held at home waiting on Phenom sales / deliveries / training rather than being sent to fleets that will be in disposal later. Hence, you Excel, X, G200 and Falcon pilots are working hard. It makes some sense to avoid the extra training cost from pilots who will only spend a year or so in the new aircraft before it too goes into disposal. The real question is will the Phenoms get here in time to take up the slack before the wheels come off those other fleets. Management is banking on yes, and I think they're right. It's encoded in our pilot DNA to get the job done. As long as you guys can get it done safely, great. Management's plan will work, Hansell looks like a genius, Warren is happy and maybe throws NJA a bone with less required return and NJA lowers prices attracting more owners. Maybe.

This would be the time to bring pilots back, to have training done in time for the busy season. Much as I would like to, I just don't see that happening this year.

As of the recurrent brief four days ago, recalls are planned for 2017.

Yes, you read that right.

Of course, 98% of the propaganda video and Chief Pilot slide show is complete crap, so.....
