Gutsy move, Maverick.

Add the Globals and the Phenom 300s and you have a big fleet of new airplanes over the next 5-10 years... I guess many of them could be spread out throughout the globe (Netjets US, Europe and maybe China). Surprised that Netjets did not order the new "Longitude" - looks like a Citation X replacement. Or maybe they will order the newer version of the X...

Adios to the Beechjunks and the G2Ugly...

I'm pretty sure Netjets had a large number of deliveries up until 2008 or so... I'd expect them to stay in the fleet until they were atleast 10 yrs. old...maybe

I think the Sovereign, X, G200 and maybe some Falcons were delivered up until the downturn? (there are also some old as dirt X's and Falcons also)

Flex is done.
Either you will be half the size or sold.
Lots of good people got screwed again by FR.
I hope it all works out for all of you.

This is great news for Netjets pilots - including some of those furloughed pilots not far from recall...

One question - is this part of a fleet simplification strategy? I guess Netjets will evidently operate the following (if existing fleets are replaced): Phenom 300, Citation Latitude, Challenger 300, Challenger 605 and Global Express (two versions of the Global). I suppose the new Citation TEN could also be added. Five-six types would be more efficient than operating the 8-9 types currently operated...

But what will the "fractional" business look like in a few years? It seems to be changing to more of a 135/managed model (i.e., like XOJet and Citation Air). I guess niche players like Avantair (growing fast) and Alpha Flying will be there due to their lower acquisition costs, can we say the same about the fractional Challenger/Gulfstream/Legacy operators? In Europe, operators like VistaJet (worldwide charter operator using Globals and CL605s) appear to be at least maintaining their operations - if not growing in other parts of the world. Will Netjets have to change its model to more of an XOJet model with fewer financial commitments from customers (i.e., must buy a 1/4 or 1/16th share to participate)? Morph to more of a Marquis Card model in the future?

Well, one thing is for certain: if Obama wins another 4 years, and the economy continues to tank with no plans for a turnaround (with higher taxes for your key customers - the top 1%), the fractional business could sputter a lot faster than anyone expects.

.

this is very good news for the "still employed" netjets pilots.... I don't know about recalls or growth or anything like that. We're disposing of aircraft at a very rapid rate

we're upgrading the fleet, but a bit of shrinkage still going on. nevertheless, excellent news

Well, I'd of bet the farm we'd pick up the 500/600 EMB's so word to the wise...

don't take no stock or horse advise from the Hog!

That EMB 500 looks like a nice bird with the interesting FBW/sidesticks. But isn't it roughly the same size/performance as a CL300? How does the addition of the EMB 500 improve efficiency and reduce fleet complexity?

A couple of years ago (announcement of the Phenoms) the honchos at recurrent stated that that deal would "fundamentally change the way we do business", so I took that to heart and assumed that Embraer had their nose under the tent.

It was also a common type from what I understand so I thought that made sense as far a efficiency and fleet were concerned.

I wasn't invested one way or the other but I'm happy with the choices especially if they actually show up. I think the natives will be happy.

Business is business... That much is a given. At this point, what appears to be a big win for Netjets is coming at a terrible price for crews at one of our mutual competitors.

Try to keep that in mind for future posts...

Remember... Karma's a b1tch...

Wonder if these planes will wind up at EJM? That seems to be the division they are promoting the most..

I don't think it matters. After the Bilderberg meeting, they probably know who is going to be in the White House come January.

So my company finally gives me something to feel good about and you want me apologize because it affects a competitor?

Next time something positive takes place at Avantair and YOU come on here and post, I'm going to give you s**t because that'd hurt the competition.

and not that I care , but what the hell did I say that offended you anyway?

As if NJA doesn't already have 495 pilots on furlough? Myself included. You don't have to be a jerk.

I would bet they have a pretty strong gut feeling as to who will be in the White House or I doubt this large of an order would have been placed and I doubt it's Mr. Anti-Corporate Aviation.

Signing contracts for the purchase of new aircraft is great. However, signing contracts for the sale of those aircraft to owners is what is needed. Having the newest, greatest, most efficient fleet in the business means nothing if very few will fly it. The fact is to keep some owners, NJ is lengthening the age of its existing fleet as very few owners are willing to pony up new $$$ to buy a new share. For example, many Excels which were to be retired out of the fleet at 10 years have been extended to 15 years to keep the owners around for another 5 years instead of leaving the program.

You didn't say anything to offended me. Sorry if it came off that way. After re-reading my post, I can see how my words could be taken out of context.

I wasn't knocking the individual pilots in your group. But, with that whopper of an order, the entire Fractional dynamic as a whole will never be the same. Thank goodness our Piaggio fills a niche that won't be affected by the aircraft types in the press release.

No disrespect was intended. I apologize if you were. Again, not my intent.

edit to add: My wishes all along have been for the Frac industry to have NO pilots on the street. Maybe this purchase might accellerate the return of some of the 495, but it's going to be at the cost of crews elsewhere. No net gain...

The existence of your company is responsible for a number of furloughs across the industry, in case you are dense. It is just business, however.

True. The difference is that we prospered through a superior product, combined with an efficient, publically traded, transparent business model. We didn't bully our way to domination thanks to the bottomless pockets of a financial backer.

As you reiterated, it IS just business. And, just as I did when CitationAir fell upon hard times, I'm going to offer a helping hand to anyone looking to avoid unemployment due to this fiasco. We're still hiring, albeit into a pool. PM me a resume and I'll help as much as I can.

Thanks-

Exactly my thoughts.
LOL. Then you picked the wrong pony.

Netjets dominated. They won.

Even with the union.

All their competitors have been marginalized.

X-O, Avantair. They are always going to be small. Its their model.

Deal with it, and move on.

If, not. Explain how I am wrong.

The phrase "out of left field" comes to mind... As in "what the heck are you talking about"? I'm fairly certain RP has worked at NJA
