I won't see the extra money, nor will I see any of the changes. All the more reason to make sure I make sure that these changes are good for long term NJA pilots. Sans emotion.

With that brand new GIV type rating, do you even get to vote? ( a real question).

Actually, NJ pilots can affect the finances of other NJ families by voting for or against the pay raise. Taking offered improvements now doesn 't stop the pilot group from fighting for HBAs for all (or any other issue) when the agreement becomes amendable. It brings the desired goal closer within reach and helps the pilots make the case that what they ask for is not unreasonable and has not caused the company any hardship. Progressing from 100 cities should be easier than trying to get to HBAs from only 5 domiciles. The same long-term bargaining strategy applies to wages.

1108's leadership and the IBB team are committed to making NJA a viable long-term career and they appear to support the proposal. The two positions are not mutually exclusive... nor are those who support it naively basing their opinions on emotion. The 1108 IBB team worked on the TA with analytical minds while they juggled the diverse needs of a large pilot group. It was definitely a task that required lots of brain power, but emotional reasons also apply when dedicated volunteers sacrifice their own personal time and gain to serve the greater good. When those same sentiments are expressed by the Membership as a whole it is an example of unity.

There is historical precedence in my belief that NJ pilots can stand together for the greater good, even if it requires them to put the needs of their fellow pilots before their own personal gain. During the contract battle 118 FOs got a hand up when those senior to them passed down a PIC bid. Each did so optimistically believing that the bypass pay bid would help others. The gesture was greatly appreciated by those who got the pay raise and was viewed with pride by many in the pilot group for its show of unity.

Following closely,
Netjetwife

PS Apparently the alligator wasn't too hungry. :p Must be a 5 year or plus NJ PIC not an SIC living on slim pickings and traveling a long distance just to get to the river bank.

I'm sorry but reality doesn't usually work this way. You say you are increasing the domiciles for the new hires but I say there is a bigger chance of reducing HBA's in the long term. Its already evident with having to permanently chose an hba by 2010. How is it an hba when you have to choose a permanent one?

Like I said the document comes out tonight and its a long term thought process. Optimism, or hoping the company does the right thing is naive.

But hey the world needs positive happy people, and gosh darnit people like me.

I read a great quote today. By one of the most dynamic business leaders in the USA. An alligator is sitting on the bank of a river. He's watching the most amazing feasts of birds and small animals cross right under his nose. He knows he can snatch any one of them and have a meal. But he knows also that such a small animal isn't worth the effort. He's waiting patiently for that bigger animal happy to let the small ones go by.

PS if you can't see the humor in sarcasm... well i can't help you there.

Kinda funny and cute in theory there Diesel. But I dont think thats how alligators work........if hes hungry, whatever is infront of its beak is going down.

Are you sure your gonna know what to do with that big ole Gulfstream cuz it dont have no floats or carb heat/mags and suction guage.

Whatever i've played with enough gators in my life to know it takes a pretty long stick and a mexican to make them hungry. :) BTW some of those fatties in your neck of the woods would feed an alligator for years to come. :)

Yeah i was in the floatplane last week looking for an overhead panel and apu starter switch. Of course both planes were built the same year.... :)

BTW I saw our favorite rep today. :) And Mini Me.

LOL, She got you there Diesel. And she's right.

What if....we vote this IBB down and the company then opens 5 more Domiciles (ORD, DEN, ATL, STL, SFO), and leaves the pay as is, would you guys be happy with that?
