I'm not a usapa cheerleader but come on flyer your statements make you look as silly as the letter writer. Us air was going down the tubes yes but to view awa as a savior is nonsense. Where was awa going? You guys were a nice little regional airline in the southwest. You both needed each other. You were both going nowhere fast.

So AWA was able to talk the gov't into a loan in 3 months and USAir took almost 3 years to secure one and then proceeded to burn through the 1 Billion in a little over 2 years.
Folks who invested in the recovery of AWA have been paid back nicely. The Alabama Teachers Retirement fund took a huge haircut on their investment on USAirways, not to mention the concessions that came with the ATSB loan that USAPA and their supporters are still clinging to.
AWA was far from perfect, but it facilitated the resuscitation of US, for better or worse. The east pilots should have put their pride behind them and chosen better labor leadership and abandoned the failed civil war against the AWA pilots.
