Just to put something else positive on here for a change...

I'll be starting class as well on the 5th and I am a "local boy", we'll MN anyway. I will have a vehicle of some sort there for the duration. So I'll be willing to help people get places here and there... Just matters which vehicle I bring as to how many my "taxi" will hold...

Do you know what airplane they're putting you in?

I'll be in the SAAB. Can't wait to start! I'm just looking forward to getting back to a career I truly WANT to do again! Anyone else that's in the Nov. 5th class feel free to PM me and we can exchange contact information prior to the 5th. I don't have any idea which hotel I'll be in yet.

Do the hotels have a fitness room? oh yeah, how about wireless?

No fitness at the Homestead, however if you want to jog you could bring a back pack and jog to Wall Mart/ grocery store (probably 3-4 miles round trip good luck if you're there during Dec/Jan), they do have on site laundry. They have wireless, but you have to pay for it, at least I would have had to pay for it when I stayed there for my interview, I don't know if they cut new hires a deal, or turn it on for free. There seems to be a fair number of people posting things from training, so either they're paying for it, its free for new hires, or their significant other has a real job and they can afford wireless hotspot things from their phone carrier :) again, don't know about the Exstended stay.

See you on the 5th piav8r, which plane?

At the Homestead they have a room designated the Mesaba room which is a study room has AOMs QRHs, dry erase board etc and a computer with internet access for all of the Mesaba folks staying at the Homestead. The Homestead also has corporate Sam's Club cards that you can check out and use so if you don't have a Sam's membership you don't have to buy one. They also can set up shuttles for you to take you to the grocery store etc.

Some people are also being put up in the Town Place Suites. in addition to the other two hotels mentioned.

Training:

1) If you can, bring a car, you will be very happy you did.

2) If you can't bring a car, give the driver plenty of gas money to stay good.

3) Homestead: Lot's of people seem to complain about it. If you have a legit gripe, please contact the union hotel rep (you can get the contact info from someone during class). The union can only improve hotel issues if they get the documentation.

4) On the other hand, I've heard that the wireless charge there is pretty cheap. Shouldn't be too big of a deal.

I drove my car there from Vermont...and I was glad I did every day! I hate waiting on shuttles...I would have worried about being 2 minutes late and missing the shuttle. As it was though, the car bought me an extra 10 minutes of sleep in the morning. Having my car there also kept me from feeling quite so entrapped. I was there for a month and a half and only went home once, I would have gone insane if I couldn't get out on my own.

I was in the towneplace. Full kitchen with stove/oven/garbage disposal/ dishwasher/microwave/toaster/fridge/freezer. Wal-Mart and the grocery store were within walking distance. Chili's was within crawling distance (very important for the friday nights after a test).

Oh yeah, and to rub it in for the Pinnacle guys...Single Occupancy:)

Wireless was free for mesaba when I was there for a month+. Just told them I was with mesaba and they gave me the password just make sure they waive the fee on the bill. Had it the whole time I was there this summer and didn't pay a dime.

That's nice. I just really hope there's some Comedy central at the hotel LOL. A good laugh keeps the sanity going.

hey for all of you that are coming to training at XJ, some advice. when you are told you must know your flows and your profiles BEFORE SIMS, do us all a favor and know them....study them.......dont be an a$$ and show up like my sim partner and not even know his acceptance flow.....waisting my sim time and my training........oh and know JEP plates before the sim......jesus, NOS plates will not help you. oh, do not give idiotic advice to your captain......no you do not know more than he or she does......oh, and if you are going to the jet, does not mean you are better, or special........it means you are still on the bottom of the senority list.........oh oh yes, and will upgrade to the saab.......good luck

I got this from Eaglelounge, check this out and learn.....

"I just finished ERJ Captain transition and we had 18 new hires. More than half had issues in the sim. Unsats....getting yanked out of sim to do additional CSI training because flows, checklist and autopilot knowledge were bad. If your low time and flying Cessnas etc.....my best advice would be to get to know how autopilots work in jet aircraft......One of the ways is to buy a FltSim program and practice BEFORE coming to training. It will payoff when you start sim and finish with no issues. GOOD LUCK...."

Now you see, THIS GUY CAN REALLY CALL HIMSELF A PROFESSIONAL. I can see why Flybet3 would think you were being a d*** bag. I'm not calling you a d*** bag let me set the record straight, but I can see why you would come off as the bad guy. Remember it's not what you say, but how you say it that counts. Good night.
Anyway, anyone else hired recently as a captain or FO?

Friend got the CA offer on Monday also, I believe the total for street CA's as of that day is only 9...no class dates for any yet.

Dang. Either not many are interviewing, or not everyone is making the cut. So much for having a pulse and ATP mins.

I can attest. I recieved an email that said thanks but no thanks. I didn't even get to interview. Oh well. 3800tt 2200 multi 1200 turbine 825 part 121. I don't think I'm the cat's pajamas but I was thrown a little when I read the email. I thought for sure I'd get some face time. Good luck to all those who have made it or are wanting to make it.

Yeah me too! Oh well, when one door closes another opens. Compass called last night when I was out on a trip though. Kinda funny. Anyway, enjoy Mesaba!
