Ok first and above all I'm wasnt being arrogant. Secondly whateeeeeever you think you know about me you dont. Also I'll say it here and I'll say it to your face you can kiss my A$$$$ and bring it tough guy. Like i said, sorry to hear that you had a pretty dumb SIM partner. But that's just life and part of the job, if your SIM partner really give your problems, then you have to get with the instructor or lead instructor and say "Hey man, the guys' a nice guy but he's really not helping me out and he might affect my performance". Hell my last 121 checkride the same guy that was one of my instructors was also my right seater for the checkride and almost and I mean REALLY almost screwed me over TWICE b/c he actually was having a bad day and fell behind the airplane. Did I get a little upset, indeed I did. But I managed to keep things under control and passed my checkride with no problems. What did that teach me? Well that even an instructor can make mistakes and never never EVER let your guard down in the airplane or the SIM. But I didnt get on here and give everyone a speech about how "OH PLEASE COME TO XXXX AIRLINES PREPARED OR DONT COME AT ALL BLAH BLAH BLAH!" So yeah look me up, and if you are calling me arrogant then you my friend need to check yourself FIRST. PEACE BIATCH!

Well, what can I say.

Now you showed your class! (Just want to clarify that I'm NOT talking about your Saab Street-captain class).

A major or minor CRM issue can be solved, but no pilot group or training department can ever help you with your problem.

Will the upgrades stay short for pilots with ATP mins or are there a bunch of guys lacking only 100-300 hours? Is Mesaba using the street CA applications to attract pilots with time or will they actually need street CAs soon? If a pilot with the mins started the next class as an FO, would they actually upgrade in 1-2 months or do you think that could easily be dragged out 5-6 months since more senior FOs would upgrade first? Basically, is this as good as it sounds or could it easily turn horribly bad? Not trying to look negatively at it, just explore all possibilities. I would hate to give up my nice time off and choice of schedules just chasing an upgrade that wouldn't happen.

yea, what he said...

...btw MEL, you hear that airways just yesterday officially hired the first off the street and they're in a class for Nov. 5th. heard one of our union guys is trying to organize a mx slowdown thing over it.

i'd like to get some info on these questions you posted about mesaba too...you thinking what I'm thinking?

They are upgrading so fast right now that if you get hired you would not spend anytime as an fo. New vacancy is out and they are upgrading 17 saab captains and they seem to be consistant every 2 weeks with this many. Get in and get your seniority number as this is more important to get this then waiting for another class. Depending if you are choosey about your base DTW and MEM are junior. Most guys are waiting to get ATP mins and/or getting a summer and winter or portion there of under there belt before they upgrade. There were alot of guys/gals hired at around 600 hrs and will not be able to upgrade for at least a year to get the additional time. Once you hold captain in a base you can not be kicked out by more senior FOs to captain. When there are vacancies though the more senior fo to capt will go ahead of you. Also if a base shrinks (that is not forecast to happen but that always changes ie bacruptcy sham and 9/11) then the cuts are made at the bottom. But that could happen at any airline.

We had one new hire in our class who constantly wanted to show how much more he knew than the captains: he knew the chemicl formulae of substance that creates O2 in Pax cabin, but didn't know who Frank Whittle was.

I don't know who Frank Whittle was either. Now Sir Frank Whittle is another matter.

Okay I will say this, why xcannot we all get along? I will also say my origional post was a bit of a rant and a warning/suggestion/hint to new hires to be prepared to know what you need to know. Do not blow off information and not know it, then lie and said they did know it when repeatedly that guy prooves to me that he did not know it. He also admitted to going home for a 7 day sim break and not having his A/C flight deck poster to study from. Oh and that he said he was busy with a business that he owns all through his break. As for the Mesaba instructors who should have caught his terrible performance.......We had three or four different instructors. It was hard to see progress of anything when they did not stick around. Now as for flybet......or whoever, yes we are a small company. I am professional and would not be caught having some confrontation with a new hire who is an idiot, but our professional standards chair might want to know about you, so I will put the word out about you......did I mention I know a lot of instructors.......I will put the word out about you to them too. We like to weed out the idiots at XJ. Our instructors, our union reps and our pilots in general are great people. We do not take kindly to your sort. good day

Pass the popcorn. I love chick fights.

I think somebody needs a time out.

God I love flight info. Especially the regional forum. Always find these types here. Wether you like or not man you're no better than flybet3. Here you are talking about being professional and acting as if you were better, but look at you man! Fighting with a reject about some stupid debate, acting all hard and then hiding behind your union reps and instructors. Why dont you both stop fighting behind a keyboard and just have a good'ol man to man, mano to mano brawl.
That's the problem now a days, everyone has a big mouth, calls everyone names, put people on the spot and go tell on people. But once they get bitchslapped they go running to their "mama and dada".
Tell me XJhawk, are you going to tell on me too?

Seat lock questions

I'm not too familiar with how seat locks work, so I have a few questions. If you are an RJ FO, been at XJ for 8 months, have the upgrade mins, can you upgrade or are you locked into the RJ for a while? If you upgrade into the Saab, currently how long due you have to stay in the Saab before you can move to RJ CA when a spot opens? I hear rumors about lifting or reducing the seatlocks, what are they talking about reducing them to if not totally lifted? Would reducing seat locks make a group of pilots currently on the RJ available for Saab CA? Thanks in advance as I am trying to understand how the XJ seatlocks work since I am at a comapny with only 1 aircraft type.

Well technically no you aren't locked from upgrading, however so far all the jet FO's that have taken upgrade have been bypassed (they stay as jet fo but will get captain pay as soon as someone junior to them starts getting captain pay) once you take the Saab captain seat you are locked there for 24 months after training. So you could not bid Saab captain then 6 months later bid CRJ captain. Just one of many reasons some of the higher seniority FO's are holding off the upgrade.

How long can XJ bypass you for upgrade or is it not in the contract and effectively indefinately as long as you are receiving CA pay? Have any idea how many have been involuntarily bypassed so far and want the first avail upgrade? Is it a real possibility they will lift/reduce the seat locks or is that just rumor? Sounds like they holding back RJ FOs to keep the jets flying? If so and they get a large group of FOs onboard and trained, they will let all those bypassed upgrade, right?

I think by the contract its something like 120 days.

XJHawk,

What are you gonna do, tell any instructor who will listen to you that you got into a argument with this guy on line and called each other names and maybe the instructors will take some sort of action on your behalf ? Think about that for a minute.

Homestead Studio Suites in Eagan MN and an Extended Stay America. Can't speak for the Extended stay, but the Homestead has a Sam's club in the back parking lot, other than that its a half hour walk to other stores (Best Buy, Grocery, Wall Mart, Don Pablos, other restaurants etc). The room is basically like a studio apartment, full kitchen with everything except an oven. Full size fridge/freezer, stove top, microwave, pots and pans, plates and bowls, silverware etc. As long as one person you know brings a car, it shouldn't be half bad, I'm going to get a Sam's club membership before I start on the 5th (I've been thinking about getting one at home anyway). Looking forward to starting on the 900, and no I don't think that makes me special :)

On a side note, I'd like to see this thread get back to more productive questions and less bitter bickering. We get it, you guys don't seem to like eachother....... got anything else to talk about?

I agree, good man. That was a great answer cuz i was actually curious as to if I needed to bring a microwave with me. I'm for sure going to be cooking. It's the best money saver, spend 50 bucks on food a week at walmart and I'll be set. I know I know...50 bucks??!! But you can do it. And no, not just eating mac and cheese. Do the hotels have a fitness room? oh yeah, how about wireless?

class on the 5th...

Just to put something else positive on here for a change...

I'll be starting class as well on the 5th and I am a "local boy", we'll MN anyway. I will have a vehicle of some sort there for the duration. So I'll be willing to help people get places here and there... Just matters which vehicle I bring as to how many my "taxi" will hold...

LOL. Congrats bud. Just be patient with people my friend, a couple of places I have worked at I was the "On call" taxi driver. But it was fun and this is how I made lots of friends. Just remember, the guy you're giving a ride on your "taxi" today might be the same guy that will be on the other side of the table tomorrow. Once again, congrats.
