I always wanted to start a really long thread on here...think this will do it.
(be sure to let it get into the scenarios....first 5 minutes before turning it off)

My favorite highlights:
While we understand that some trips require you to sleep on the aircraft, and your uniform may get a little wrinkled, do your best to stay neat. Perhaps try to change into a T-shirt before "camping out" on the plane.
????????? :confused::confused::eek:
OMG this gets better and better:

*RING RING* (at 4:30am)
Hello?
-Is this Captain Ryan?
Yes, this is Captain Ryan. who is this and how may i help you today?
-This is crew tracking notifying you of a change in your schedule today.
Golly gee, change to my schedule, Happy Day!
-Im junior assigning you.

Miss the wife's chemo therapy appointment? Great!

Ignore chemo theray sessions... once your wife dies, you'll have even MORE free time to fly for Mesa.

If your wife has cancer, and is getting chemo therapy, and you need to take her to the hospital, then DO IT ! NOTHING else is more important !!!

They want to junior assign you? Sorry, it turns out you must have eaten something bad and now have a runny stomach... calling in sick. Or call in fatigued. Do something.

What's wrong with that dude's lips?

Once he started talking I shut him off.

Seriously, what's wrong with the MAG MEC's lips?

"I want to work one of my eight days off..."

Geeezus.....LMAO...nothing ever changes at the efffing place. Try paying your crews a little more and maybe they won't have to wear a dirty shirt from off of the crashpad floor...

And here's another professional tip:

Chemotherapy jokes aren't funny OR professional. My wife puts people on study for cancer treatments, so pardon the sore spot. A better one could have been:

They're inducing labor on my wife today. I was told I could be there for the birth OR the conception, but not both, and I chose the birth.

(That's an old AWACS joke due to the high ops tempo we had.)

Can someone check the bylaws and determine whether or not Mesa can be kicked out of ALPA by a majority vote of all other ALPA carriers? Thanks.

You guys are true idiots. The Mesa MEC was trying to make a couple points to the pilots while having a little fun (most of it aimed at the company). Read between the lines folks.

That said I thought the skit involving the guy and Chemo was a little much. Again, it was aimed at what our stupid Mgmt would expect of the pilots. Not what the union feels it right. -Bean

Then why would Mesa ALPA bother producing a video, spending their time, resources, and your dues to communicate the company's desires? Who is your MEC working for anyway?

DUDE... get the FULL quote:

"So, I really want to work one of my eight days off... but I don't think I'm gonna be legal... if only those darn FAA regulations weren't so strict and limiting."

Yeah! God dang those FAA regulations! What were they thinking to give pilots rest regulations ?! Bah !
/sarcasm

Is this for real?

I mean really, his wife missed her chemo, but the pilot got a extra day off?

all of these scenarios were digs on mesa management. if you want to kick mesa out of alpa that will really help you guys get better contracts as mesa who is now non alpa helps lead the race to the bottom that everyone here blames on mesa. maybe a new strategy should be pursued, instead of bagging on mesa guys every chance you get you should support them as section 6 negotiatiations start in less than 1 year. that contract when it does come could make or break the regional industry.

I WATCHED THE WHOLE THING!
It was like a car wreck, as repulsive as it was I could not turn my eyes away.
Humor has it's roots in truth, hope the company gets the message.
Also like how they include GO! only 2months after they started ops...
(shivers)

How many people at Mesa are going to vote to strike, my bet is Mesa gets uglier than Mesaba, I have never worked there but hope everyone supports them in their strike. Start saving it's gonna be a long one.

The phone number they gave is legit. Its to corporate HQ. I suppose you really COULD call that number and ask for The man himself.

I'm truly dumb founded. If that's typical Mesa training material it says a lot about how they perceive their pilots. If they seriously had a need to address all these issues then it says a lot about the reality of their pilots. I can't imagine why they put so much effort into a lame video as such. If I worked there and watched it, it would probably have a negative effect on my morale and watching it now scares me away.

Knowing nearly half of the pilots personally I'll wager a guess that while they were trying to be serious in the end nearly everything (inculding the proper scenarios) were done with a tone of sarcasm interjected.

Indeed...we need to support our brethren at MESA...not make fun of them.

The scenarios are indicative of the reality of where life is going in the regional segment...South.

Jeez, some of you guys need to relax. If I was going to have to sit through a Pro Standards training video, I'd rather sit through that than the alternative. If you can't laugh at yourself, and your situation in this industry, you'd probably better just hook the hose up to the tail-pipe and roll up the windows.

Oh, and the out-takes and the sexual harrassment segment were hilarious.

There is NO REASON WHATSOEVER to bag on Mesa for making this video. Good on Capt. Ackerman & the MAG PSC for spending the time & money to produce this video.

What is unfortunate is that they had good reason to make it...and that pilots at every airline could stand to learn a thing or three from it. And you gotta admit, it was prety funny at times. Goes to show MAG pilots know the reputation of their airline, management & themselves...and have enough sense of humor to laugh at themselves.

I have an Addition to their Prostandards video....

Quit wearing the F**king
Windbreakers!

its important to educate the group about pro-stans, and its always good to do it with some humor. but you have to be careful on the message you're going to send as well. some people may enjoy the humor but then also take the message as the union is saying "oh well, sleeping in the plane sucks, just deal with it".

i could relate to the humor in the video. i just hope they are putting as much or more of an effort into putting a stop to some of these situations that the company is creating. if they did that, they wouldnt have to make a video telling you how to cope with it.

.

That was a masterful work. I loved it, 15:30 in, "Do you like to watch movies about gladiators?" Classic.

Chemotherapy jokes aren't funny OR professional. My wife puts people on study for cancer treatments, so pardon the sore spot.

This was not intended to be a joke! It actually happened, hence the reason for putting in the vidieo... actually all of the scenario's were based on actual incidents, but the names were changed to protect the inecent...
