I didn't try to destroy scope....I just want effective scope that doesn't exclude the union's own membership....

I didn't try to bankrupt the union....I just defended my job...The union is doing a fine job of bankrupting itself.....

I didn't try to steal anyone's seniority...I defended MY SENIORITY...something us regional second class citizens aren't allowed to do in this "association"....

I didn't try to steal any money....Again I defended my job against my "association"....

Please expell me for daring to defend my own job....I would appreciate it....
You can't reason with a socialist they will always point to their superior humanitarian position. Like being more concerned with a few ALPO staffers being out of work while ignoring fellow pilots.

It's the health of the "Party" that's more important than the health of it's members! Hey we just lost 2000 dues paying pilots....how are we going to replace the revenue?

It's a simple matter of redistribution of wealth. From you to them!

I'm a right wing socialist.... A Pat Buchananite.. Pro-life & Pro-Union... Pro-Gun & Pro-Social safety net Pro Environment and Pro Military, Anti-War and Anti-Gay Marriage ... so which party is for me?

Wow, and my surprise continues...6 of 8 to agree on. I understand your quandary, I'm all of the above with the exception of I'm pro-choice and couldn't care less about gay marriage (and it baffles me as to, with all the other problems we need to deal with, how this issue continues to end up in the headlines).

But as to which party? I also feel pretty lost sometimes and sincerely wish/believe that our two-party (which often seems like one) system is lacking. Supposedly this country was founded upon freedom of 'choice' yet our political system sometimes seems one step above an african dictator regime when it comes to election time and choosing only one of two parties (realistically anyway).

For the very reason you want to hide same!

I would argue the need to hide it stems from the need to quell the embarrassing xenophobia some members of the voting public seem to have for anything not WASP.

In ethno-centrist France, a Hungarian becomes president and not a soul cares about his ethnicity, and in London a Turk becomes Mayor and same.. here, God forbid a non WASP wants to be president of the most ethnically diverse country in the world and it's an "issue"..

After that Obama video you posted on another thread its clear you can't think for yourself..

Why should what you say here have any value?

Life is full of paradoxes. Smart people embrace paradox.

For those that like to pre-package and pre define how everything is are really only fooling themselves.

For example some one says I never drink Desani bottled water. I only drink Aquafina. Well, how thirsty or dehydrated will one get before they have to break their "moral" code.

Most people vote like a Hollywood action star. One shot, one kill. Or a 9mm bullet can being down a chandelier and most importantly, kills the bad guy all live happily ever after.

That is how people vote for POTUS.

I certainly don't agree with the left or the right. Like most I am moderate, centrist, whatever..

The trick is to customize your politics.

If you can't prosper in this country as an airline pilot.. then something is wrong. Well, most if not many Airline Pilots are not prospering. Voting for for the POTUS who will actively work against a career that is regressing is questionable at best.

So vote for the pro pilot, pro career candidate. And then customize your politics. Voice your concerns to your congressmen. Work the issues as they come along.

Let's face it... most people don't for for their congressmen. Most people only vote every four years for POTUS and brush their hands clean....

The rewards of living in the greatest democracy require a higher level of responsibility than the common American accepts.

I will never vote for a man that sat under a pastor that makes statements "I hate White America". And still continued to attend that church. You have to question his JUDGEMENT!!

"Today !! is the first time in my adult life I am proud to be an American"...Michelle Obama= SAD, because your husband is winning?=SAD

Obama will lose by huge numbers in November !!
He will lose NH,OH,FL,WV,PN,=all states Democrates need !!

Well Alpo buttboy that's good news! If you're against it I must be onto something! Thanks! Here's a little something for you and the other socialist apologist.
Eyeblast.tv - A Video Portrait Of Barack Hussein Obama
Don't worry you'll see this plenty between now and November!

By the way why aren't you and your silly little girlfriend PCL PFT comisserating over some injustice that requires you both to pontificate adnauseam as you have since this thread began.

Let me get this straight Einstein. Life is full of contradictions. Smart people embrace contradictory statements?

Of course you support Whammy O'Bam Mo!

Oh yeah Air America that's the radio show that's in bankrupcy because no one listens...puzzling why?

Because there is no need to listen to Air America... many Americans know how to think independantly.

Many Americans don't need Sean, Rush and Bill to tell us what to think and believe....

So you can offer your opinion and I cannot? or you are offended by mine?

<Snort!>

Nice double talk. Your opinion that federal support of unions is the number 1 issue is your prerogative. Your opinion that "everyone's problem" is that they don't agree you and are therefore shortsighted and foolish is simply silly and arrogant beyond belief.

Everyone has different things that are important to them, politically. Do I also think there are some really dumb issues out there? Certainly. Am I so arrogant to believe that what is closest to me must be closest to everyone else? Hell no.

You may have been told many times in your career that flying should be your standby job (profession, whatever) but you should have a primary back up. I humbly suggest you BELIEVE IT. If you're a responsible ADULT, you'll plan for it accordingly.

Look around you. If you have any friends recently furloughed, you should now appreciate how quickly this can happen. Furloughs, loss of medicals, poorly run airlines, well run airlines that still can't compete with even better ones (like Frontier vs Southwest) . . . all of these happen, and no government plan or ultimate federal protection will make any difference.

Dude, what are you on a double dose of Zoloft? What rock are you living under that you think everything in our profession is so honkeydory?

It's not. I fully believe that total airline capacity in the US will shrink by 30-50% over the next decade and nothing can change that fact. I'm planning accordingly.

However, lets fast forward though to Summer 2009. After sweeping both houses and winning the White House in a blowout election (deservedly, I might add) and Congress passes the "Airline Right to Strike Act".

Your union group now gets to strike whenever it wants. Isn't that great? You can negotiate for anything! Except the airlines will still be losing billions, and you can't squeeze blood from a turnip.

I have yet to hear anyone explain how a labor friendly Congress will actually help airlines or their labor groups. Can they:
  • Lower oil prices? - doubtful, cuz it ain't within their power
  • Spur development of supply via shale, oil sands, offshore drilling and new refineries - are you kidding? (It would take decades anyway.)
  • Subsidize airlines, picking winners and losers? - possibly, but there is no way the taxpayers could support anything like the number of airlines we have now
  • Give tax breaks to airlines? - hahahahahahah!
  • Build new airports at major hub areas to improve efficiency at congested areas? - (see previous)
  • Actually implement ATC "point to point" and NextGen FAA improvements that have been promised and delayed for 30 years and save a fortune in gas? - only if they fire half the FAA brain trust first (not controllers)
  • Implement "profiling" at the TSA instead of 10,000 see-through-clothes x-ray machines? - not gonna happen.
Neither party will commit to any of the above.

If there is a single reason to vote "red" based solely on what's good for the airlines, it really is this: Which party is likely to "do what it takes" to prevent another crippling terrorist attack? Personally, I think it's still the "reds" but it's certainly a debatable point, and even I don't think that's a good enough reason to keep them in.
