Sky GIrl,
I have no bone to pick with the guy (except that he is wrong on some of his assertions).

I dunno...seems personal to me.

I seem to remember that bonus depreciation is done on new aircraft and tax deferral with like kind exchanges is what you do with old ones. Maybe you're both right. In any case, I think you two are the only ones on this board who care, with the possible exception of that headcase - LegacyDriver.

GEX,

I only care because it is in my personal interest to study and understand the cost structure of my corporate flight department. Being informed has kept me employed continuously for the past 30 years. I think everyone in this industry in this day and age must realize that how the flight department runs financially is key to its survival. A lot of folks were caught with their pants down when the fractionals started showing board members how they could do it for less through them. Without the in-depth knowledge, those guys couldn't debate the issue and were on the street. You can live in a vacuum, but for me, information is power.

This financial debate would perhaps be relevant if we were comparing similar products, however.........a WSofD is STILL a WSof D, no matter how you slice the tax code.

The fractionals only replaced a few flight departments that needed to be replaced. Mainly, what we did was get a whole lot of people into jet airplanes who ordinarily couldn't afford them. By doing that, we created a bunch of new pilot jobs. A lot of our customers eventually buy their own airplanes and create more pilot jobs.

For the record, I think GV is right.

I never thought I'd miss LegacyDriver telling us that the Whistling Sh!tCan of Death had the interior volume of a Boeing 747, the cruise speed of a SR-71, and only cost as much as a Piper Cub.

You're kind of the LegacyDriver of the tax code. Let it go, dude. Nobody gives a sh!t.

LegacyDriver I apologize, please come back!

Now, can we get back to talking about airplanes?

....yeah good point!!!....and just think......just when it seemed as though this thread was REALLY starting to turn into something productive, these guys jump in with some silly conversation about numbers or something!! Maybe these hi-jackers should start a new one titled "Financing for the Rich" so that the rest of us can get back to more important stuff like....bashing some brainwashed bucket driver!!

.....anyone know what the site record is for the longest thread?

If the category is "Meaningless Dribble", this thread has it hands down:p

I am facinated with how ya'll put down the length and pointlessness of a thread by posting several pointless posts. It makes me smile.

It just proves the level to which some us will sink for cheap thrills! Besides, the true sign of thread meltdown is when the subject degrades to food, puke stories or flatulence.

........... that kinda' reminds me of the story a friend told me about the time he rode in a jungle jet!

I work with people who are normal pilots. In airplanes we talk with guys about girls; on the ground we talk with girls about airplanes. We NEVER talk about finance.

All that good info aside, who wants to ride in a "Whistling Shítcan of Death" anyhow???

That is the best analogy I have heard, I am still laughing at that one!

"Whistling Shítcan of Death"

Your killin' me!

Might I submit..............." Sweptwing Burd Murderer"

This is the essence of being a pilot. Thank you NJAFracPilot.TC

P.S.--Oh yeah, LD, when you stand up on top of the trench and yell for someone to shoot you, don't be surprised when you get shot. WSCoD's forever! ;)

How's that working for you Frac? You figure girls would rather talk to you about your adventures flying a corporate jet, or talk about finance. I would venture to say that the guys renting the jets just might be thought of as more appealing than the guy chaffering them around.

I don't know about you Frac, but I actually was gettin' some in high school, and I wasn't talking about planes or D n D.

(this was a way too low post, even for me. Sorry in advance)

I'm pretty happy you guys like the nickname, must admit I didn't come up with it, was a buddy at work. Anyway, I sure am glad to be off that can and onto a real airplane! Can't believe there are 16 pages of this crap so far too. That's even more funny. :)

You have some serious issues, Ace. If you have to have bucks to get some play, you're seeing the wrong kind of girls...

I think LegacyDriver is probably back on his meds, and through chemistry has achieved a certain level of rationality where he no longer equates Jungle Jets with business jets. He has, perhaps, found a (probably Brazilian) girl that understands his obsession with regional jets and moved on with his life.

Well this might not be a bad thing, at least as far as some of the Brazilian women I have seen!

Someone in the tower called us a Gulfstream the other day. I was so insulted. What was worse is some ground controller told us (sometime earlier in the week) to give way to an Embraer. It was a Global Express. YUCK.

I can't believe this pointless argument is still going on...i'm only on pg. 10 i think! sorry if this post isn't timed right...

but anyway, reference the above quote, I'd rather be called a Gulfstream than a Lawn Dart, Jungle Jet, etc. And watch it with the Global, pal!!! good thing you gave way, he weighs twice as much as you!

ATC calls us a Galaxy all the time, sometimes a Galaxy Express?! But I've never been called an Embraer, thank God!!

The only bad publicity is no publicity.

It is a great airplane and your ill-informed smart alec commentaries will not change that fact.

That POS doesn't rate being called an Embraer. To do so would be an insult to Embraer!

<---- Look at this avatar. Can you say, "SEXY BABY" ?

That Global looks like a deformed albatross or something. UG-LEEEE.

I looked at the WSofD in your avatar. Third World POS is the first thing that comes to mind; WEASEL if I'm feeling charitable.
