It will be SWA/CA soon enough.
.
That's a scary thought.

it really is nice not having to deal with any people (pax or FA's).

To me, that's the biggest difference between someone who'd be happy flying freight and someone who wouldn't.
Personally, I LIKE dealing with people, the job wouldn't be nearly as much fun for me if I didn't get to interact with the passengers and the FA's. (And I don't just mean at the room parties in TPA & LAS)![]()

If he thinks he needs to leave, he should. We only want people who WANT to be HERE. You come to SWA to work for SWA. I am not going to get in to a my company is better than your argument. They are both AWSOME! It is all about what you want out of your career and the kind of flying you like.
If you were a new hire with less than a year of service at SWA and offered a job at Fed Ex would you go
Go to Fed Ex if you don't want take paycuts. You will get a more luxurious ride on the MD-10 anyway.
Youre retarted...
Personally, yes. The pay is better (for now) and the company is growing by leaps and bounds. Medical is good, the retirement is still there (for now), the vacation is great, the mil leave policy is great, the work rules are some of the best in the industry, the people who work there are great. The biggest factor, however, is that you saw how UPS and FDX did in the years after 9/11. You also saw how the pax carriers did. I also personally think FDX is difficult to commute to (which is why I'm moving to planet MEM next year) and you will also do your fair share of night flying in the beginning. However, there is alot of day flying for those who want it. My .02.
You and Whataburger are just like the DAL and AA arrogant pilots of old. You call yourselves such motivated and people friendly individuals, but you blast this guy and tell him basically to get lost.
This guy is simply asking a question. He is probably great to fly with and a nice guy. But since he might leave you decide he's an enemy and should now be despised.
I'll let you in on something. Everyone has tough choices to make in life. This guy is no less a good guy for making one. You guys are way too judgmental.
Jackasses....

The question is legit.
I know of at least 2 SWA FOs who left this summer to accept 727 training slots at FEDEX.
Both applied to FEDEX before they were interviewed and hired by SWA --- in both cases the meet-n-greet, interview and call to initial training were just spread out too far for them to come to FEDEX first.
They both had good experiences at SWA, but it wasn't good enough to keep them from coming to FEDEX given their personal situations.
I also have had buddies who got on with SWA and then declined FEDEX interviews once offered.
Both are great companies --- but in two distinct industries -- they both just happen to use aircraft and employ pilots.
I think there are many distinct pros with both companies, and in the end it is about what's best for you and your family.
Just like in the military --- if/when a pilot choses to leave --- I think, we should all shake their hand and tell them "thanks" for their service, regardless if they make it all the way to retirement.
Aloha
If you're senior to me, by all means.........go!:smash:
