Daniel Dumpster?

YOUR FUNNY. I humbly will try to respond to a 747-400 pilot. Which I find rather amusing since if you did go to Daniel Dumpster I highly doubt you are.

And just so you know my almna Mata (you get the idea) is the same as yours.

Dumpster huh? You make us as proud to have you as an alumni, as your airline does to have you as a pilot, I'm sure.

Yes, I fly the 74. Isn't that hard really. Not everyone is as big of a dope as you:rolleyes:

Well I was just wondering because DWC has only been know as DWC since about 85. Before that I think it was called New England School of AeroNautics. You have certainly done well then to be a 747-400 captain by then. So tell me, what is it exactly that makes me a dope?

Well this has gone down to a new level. Why do I have the feeling you are sitting in your dorm room writing this?

The problem I have with them just getting a pref interview is that a precedent was set with Commutair, where these guys went to PLB to make sure everything looked good and where on there way to 1900 class. If they had rough interview where they were racked over the coals and then dismissed, well then I would have a different perspective. However, the fact is Commutair worked with all parties to make things as agreeable as they could be. That is the standard we should be working from.

Many of you guys seem to think that Skywest has a superior corporate culture that cannot just take anybody. You know what blow that out your arse and put it where it belongs. I think that anybody that survives the entire process of getting a 121 job (outside of Gulfstream that is) and then passing training/IOE will do just fine at any airline. You have to remember some of the furloughed could be CAL pilots who have probably been through two airlines just to get to CAL. Are you saying these guys should face an interview because they might not be Skywest worthy? Well heck then our flowbacks should of faced interviews at xjet too, because now I'm worried about the damage they are doing to Xjet culture! After all we did just win Regional Airline of the Year! That kind of talk is kool-aid drinking, management BS!

Skywest is just another regional just like Air Willy, ASA, ACA, etc... Each one goes through its own boom/bust times and we as professionals are left to ride the wave. Right now Skywest is benefiting from CAL's desire to put the screws to XJet during contract talks. Someday XJet might through some eloborate DAL codeshare, end up taking your flying out West. Who knows, but for crying out loud all I'm asking (and apparently the MEC as well) is for our furloughed people to be FO's in the Brasilia just as they are 1900 FO's at Commutair. Is that really asking too much? And if your answer to that is no and has anything to do with corporate culture then we are done arguing.

beating a dead horse...

Nimtz...

i feel your pain, brother. look at it this way. no one at Skywest thinks that he/she is better than anyone at Xjet, or that our corporate culture is 'better' than anyone else's. if the furloughee's weren't qualified and competent to fly for skywest (or Xjet for that matter), than they wouldn't even have gotten an interview in the first place. i'm sure this is gonna sound trite, but the "job is yours to lose during the interview". they want to hire you. every airline no matter who they are interview pilots. word of mouth just isn't good enough. i've brought this up before, but UAL, DAL, etc... furloughee's that used to be captains here, had to interview again. weren't they qualified? i doubt they were raked over the coals, but i'm sure it'll be the same for Xjet folks. it's a process that everyone here had/has to go through...... just like you did at Xjet when you were first hired.

On the upside of things, it looks as though a bunch of the Xjet guys/gals will get the RJ right off the bat. who knew all these folks wanted IAH? -sr.

SkyWest is not worried about your flying to air carrier standards, you have already proven that. We do have a unique relationship with management that we want to preserve. That is why the reason for the interviews. Every airline is a bit different in its culture. I fit in here fine, however I might not be a good fit at XJET. Going through your interview process might have showed that. It might have been you or one of the XJET posters that said we would get only a lukewarm welcome, or words to that effect. For all I know, thats could be true. The last thing I want working for SkyWest is a bunch of people who are torqued off at, and harbor resentment twords SkyWest. We have our one percent here that made it past the interview when perhaps they shouldn't have, but all in all, its a good group of pilots. The interview process works and hopefully we will give it a try.

Hey,
I have flown with a few of the above mentioned 1%, and it was a real pain in the arse. That is the reason for the interview, selection of suitable people, not superior pilots with personalities of Draino. Mcpickle do us all a favor and stay home and get a job at Lowes while you wait for your "flying" to come back. We are not superior, arrogant, overbearing a-holes, just pilots who want to have a good pleasant time at work, that is why we as a group want you to interview with a line captain.
Remember it is us(pilots) against them(mgmt.) As as long as we are divided the can conquer us.(like they are doing now)

Its official--

Meet and Greet is how it will go down. thanks for the flying, welcome onboard.

Trip-

Thanks, I look forward to happier days. I'm sure all XJT pilots will bring a positive attitude with them- this is not a mandatory decision. Those who don't wish to fly for SKY, won't sign up.

Those of us that do will display commitment in class/training etc. ;)

Okay, for about the 100th time....

Now that the "meet and greet" is official, will the Xjet people be getting a seat before the poolies?

News flash-
New info on Skywestpilot website, there is no definitive answer as yet, some reps are saying somewhere between meet and greet and full interview. Will someone who goes for one ot these whatevers please post what it really is?

Meet and Greet with a smile :)

Been following this thread with interest.
On July 1st, I start flying out of IAH. No matter where my FO is from, SkyW or any other airline..all I ask for is a great attitude!
I promise to show up at IAH with the same!

See all of you in IAH!;)

A funny thought just occured to me:

SkyWest guy walking around in IAH when Coex pilot says "hey man what gives with you taking our flying!"

SkyWest pilot says flatly, "no I'm not."

Coex pilot: "yes you are you piece of %#$%! We have guys on the steet and you bastards are in here taking their jobs!"

SkyWest pilot says calmly: "Actually, no I'm not. I used to work for Coex and when I got furloughed I went and got another job at SkyWest. In fact I used to fly the Brasilia out of Houston on these same routes. You see, CAL management hosed me with their flow backs that pushed me out on the street. Now It's like they're just making up for it by giving me my old job back."

Coex pilot: "Grack, you got me there"

In the mean time another Coex pilot walks by and says to SkyWest pilot: "Hey Fred, nice to see you back on the property. what's with that funny uniform?"

Ok maybe it's sad not funny,

Mcpickle is pretty funny. He post here like a bad ass, throwing the scab word around and saying how unwelcome you guys will be in IAH. Then he post on the CAL board like "hi guys what do you think of this..." I think he has some kind of bipolor disorder.

Cal management isn't responsible for the flowbacks. If Coex pilots are mad about them, they should point the finger right where is belongs, at themselves. The Coex pilots wanted the FTA, they voted for it in their last contract. The flowback provision was a part it. Nobody else is to blame for it, not management, not other airlines.

Im not going to get into a pi$$in contest with you. I never said they would be unwelcome in IAH. WHAT I said was that the guys with the attitude that "our pilots are not worthy of a job at Skywest with out a full interview" is going to ruffle some feathers. I have never accused ANYONE of being a scab at Skywest. I asked a question that was very pertinant to our situation. I have gone out of my way to welcome the Commutair guys as I will do with the Skywest guys. My post on the CAL board is for one reason. To keep the MAJORITY of members in OUR union informed at to what is going on. If you have a personal problem with me than take it up with ME.

pickle,
Your attitude is exactly why the interviews should and will be done and exactly why YOU wouldn't be hired at Skywest.

Really. Thank your for the CONSTRUCTIVE critisism. I still am not sure what I have said that is SOOOO Scarry. I have stuck to the same argument. I dont like the posters who have wanted it to be dificlult for our furloughed pilots to secure jobs. Jobs flying routes they themselves used to fly. I will not rehash the whos flying it is argument. But I have not tried to show any attitude. I have simply stuck to my guns that our pilots should not be shown attitude buy Skywest guys trying to make things difficult.

And guitar flyer. If I can make it through Dresser and I can make it through the CAL interview board, I think I could handle your interview.

Otherwise I am done with this. Welcome Skywest, good luck on your contract TA and the outcome of the vote. Good luck to the furloughed XJT guys we are still trying to get you home. Everyone fly safe.

Final MOU language will be approved next week. There will be no interviews on subjective issues. Provided an XJT pilot meets the objective hiring criteria (1000 hours total time, etc), he/she will be given a job at Skywest. Yes, that is a fact..and not one that is based on crew room rhetoric.

huh?

Mcpickle,

You try to sound so important, after all you could get through the CO interview, so of course we will take you. Besides what do we know about anything we just fly those puddle jumpers. If being a major airline pilot means flying as your FO, then I am happy where I am.

FNB-

Pickle has been flying "puddle jumpers" for 5 years+. The last thing we need with this tread is someone throwing around more criticism and rhetoric.

Any pilots that are currently furloughed from Coex (XJT now of course) did not vote on that last contract. I'm one in those numbers, and when I read the FTA, I was surprised and immediately recognized it as a bad deal - 3 for 1 going up and 100% coming back down. When I was hired in May '01 I also recognized that I would most likely not benefit from that FTA to begin with. As with most things in this industry, individual pilots are affected by things that: a - they have no control over; and b - happen to them by no fault of their own. You just have to ride out the bumps.

Being that I'm furloughed from Coex and I'm sick of flight instructing while trying to update resumes for dozens of companies that haven't budged to hire me, I'm looking forward to the opportunity to go back to work. Meet and Greet/no subjective questions type interview/whatever. I'll be ready for whatever "they" want us to do and I'll be happy and thankful for the job.

NE Dude,

The guys who voted yes for the FTA are pretty much are all still at CAL or very senior back at Express. Almost sixty percent of the seniority list was not here when the FTA was signed. In my humble opinon I always thought it was junk and would not of agreed to extend it under its present form, regardless of CAL furloughs or not. Trust me CAL management has abused the thing to its absolute limits and I'm not even talking about the flowback process.

BTW Skywest guys if the interview process is how you have been indicating, then we are about as content as we can be with this whole process.

The ironic thing from my perspective is that the "corporate culture" which is actually a misnomer, because what we are really talking about is a "flight crew culture" at Express and Skywest are probably very close to the same.

99.9% of all the people I have flown with at Express are the most helpful and positively oriented people you would ever want to meet or work with. I am sure the same is true for Skywest.

The big difference is that while it appears that Skywest's management has not done anything to inhibit the naturally inherent positive attitudes of it's pilot's, Express management has done so much real damage since 9/11 that moral is truly suffering.

But, I can assure everyone of this: regardless of how any Express pilots get to Skywest, they have to volunteer to go, they are highly motivated to succeed, and will have extremely positive attitudes.

Furthermore, I am sure that any Express pilot going to Skywest will realize the possible opportunity for a secure long term career that Skywest might offer in this current poor airline environment and woud have an attitude and work ethic to match.

And for the Skywest people headed to IAH, don't be too surprised if the Express pilots you meet turn out to be some of the nicest and friendliest people you meet...

It appears you are right and I was wrong. It's gonna be a meet and greet. My bad.

The union guys where in the IAH crew room today, as said above interview will be meet and great. SkyWest will be hiring the same number pilots as positions that open because of IAH flying, ie. if they need a total of 40 CA’s and 40 FO’s for IAH SkyWest will hire 80 furloughed XJET pilots. I guess class will be starting June 19th so if any furloughed XJET guys want to take advantage of this contact Peter Sailer.

Hey was wondering what Skywest's current pilot domcilies are?? Couldn't find any except for old ones on the Skywest web site.
