Why is Dubai so safe? I hear this from everyone that has been there and I don't understand. Did they pay off all the terrorists or do they just not bomb in their own backyard?

Just curious since they are surrounded by the "crazies"

Jeez Captain Dad, guess you don't travel abroad much. Me, I started later in life, but you know what I have learned. (Not like you care)

In China, you can have more than one kid, and they have toliets there. Not all Muslims want to kill westerners. I feel safer walking down a street in Shanghai, or on the subway in Guangzhou, than I do on the streets of Omaha. Indians are not all good at math, and we are more hated in Paris or London, than Dubai or Alexandria.

Guess what? There are a ton of things I don't know yet, but cant wait to learn. You, you listen to what you hear on CNN or FOX and spit it out as gospel. You are the American that gives us a bad name traveling abroad spitting out your opinions. I would be willing to bet you don't change your position on things to often, and probably never look for a reason to. Good luck in your stereotypes of people whose culture you don't understand, and don't want to try.

siucavflight, I'm with Realityman (A stand up guy, world class person and pilot). Go and see the world. If it is bad, come back and start over. Don't listen to guys like Captdad, who start posts over and over that have either no responses or 1 or 2. Those type of people just like to hear themselves talk. Even when no one respects what they say anymore.

PS. I think it was a loss for us at NJA to lose a guy like you in their ranks. And please keep us informed of your adventure. I'm jealous.

I dont think its a bad choice. I would not leave NJ to go to Dubai ... but from what has been posted ...

I think I would consider that Dubai gig ahead of ALL airline jobs except SWA, FEDEX, or UPS... and ahead of all Fractionals except NJ, CS, or Flexjets.

If I needed a job RIGHT NOW... I would definitely do it.

I would move my family to Ireland or Italy where I have family or Germany where my wife has family.

Maybe Cptdad is from rural PA.

The only mistake you made in this decision is asking other people what's best for YOU.

You could have chosen the "safe" path and gone to NJ. But IIRC back in the late 90's United and American were also the "safe" path.

Go get your adventure on and who gives a crap what everyone else says, especially if you can make bank doing it.

Be persistent, not pissed or bitter!!!

I'm good. I'll be back. I guess I should hit a concierge course or something. forget about the gouge on aviation interviews! I've got 6 yrs frac experience, and still found the HR questions difficult.
