Denied for a reason that makes absolutely no sense to me,
'Competitive Reasons'; Crazy it took this long for that reason.

Best of Luck to ALL ---

Final post, 'logging off',
Jet

I have to agree that getting a "non competitive" stamp after 2+ months would be a pretty bitter pill to swallow. That sucks a big one.

I don't mean to offend anybody, but I think that it may be code words for a problem with the background checks. I don't know why they would tell you that you could re-apply in 6 months if there WAS a problem with the background checks, maybe they will just not grant another interview.

It just doesn't make sense that they would use that as an excuse after passing the interview, to me anyway.

Either that, or they just had to many people get through the interview and they don't want to have a pool, and all that "we'll take everybody who's qualified and passes the interview" and "there are no quotas or percentages" is not really true.

I'm more inclined to think, however, that they would have made those determinations much earlier in the process. That leaves me to believe that there was a problem of some sort in the background checks that you guys might want to check into. Find out what it might have been, if you can, and try to move on from there.

Sorry to hear about the bad news.

FJ

Got the call

Interviewed on the 3rd and got the call yesterday from VK for an airbus slot in the 15 Feb class. Wow patience is a vitrue.

Congrats. Was there a choice for aircraft or just the 'bus?

No Offense taken... I have a top secrect clearance and excellent references. Would that cause a background check problem? ALPA maybe.. Over qualified for buget airlines I guess

No not special.. Just don't like people making assumptions about others without the details. The other pilots that were rejected, were very well qualified too. Who knows what the PHC had going that day which caused them to reject the ones that were.

never mind.

Based on your comments it sounds like they made the correct choice.

What Ever Dude... I am not bitter at anybody or at JB. I just did not like being strung along for 3 months. Like all, I have a life too and now damage control to do at my present job since they called for background check. Some have families to support.

xdriver: I was not trying to make assumptions about anyone in particular. I don't understand how it would take jB nearly 3 months after an interview to figure out that they weren't competitive.

I am merely suggesting that it could possibly be that there was an issue somewhere in the background checks and jB just doesn't want to come out and say that. Just a chance, who knows.

I would try to figure out everybody the background company talked to and then ask those people what they said to the company. Maybe somebody wasn't as positive as you would have hoped and that was the deal breaker.

I don't know, I'm just thinking out loud and commiserating with the folks who waited so long after the interview to get the word.

No offense (again) meant.

Take care,

FJ

No Offense taken.. I know for a fact that they never called my three references. They did speak with my employer and past employer and both gave me excellent references. I am at a loss.. It only took American 5 days to call me for my class date!!! Oh Well..

Take Care and Fly Safe

Wow guys (and gals?)..what a ride....

Hey...
Here in LGA waiting around now that I made the jump from regional to corporate back in Sep....just read through this entire string, and it was like watching one of those extremely suspenseful movies! I was pulling for all you guys as most everyone here seems to be of excellent character. For you guys still waiting...I hope you get the "good" call. Had a great time reading and just wanted to wish sincere best wishes to everyone...hoping I might get the chance to be in suspense like this for JB someday! Take care

If an issue surfaced in your background check I believe that JetBlue is legally required to tell you what it is and allow you the opportunity to refute it. Thats what Dean Melonas told me when I got shot down in 03.

The names of those in Phase II are posted in the crew room and training center. Not only can JB pilots look through this list and then put in a "good word" on your behalf, they may be able to cast doubt on your selection. I've seen names on the list that I didn't realize had interviewed and went out of my way to say a few extra good words for them.

You had better have proof if you try to put a potential newhire in a "bad light". JB doesn't want to hear about petty stuff. Don't come in and say I heard from a friend, who heard it from someone else that this individaul....

I'm sure it doesn't happen a lot, but if someone gets a few thumbs down from the pilot group, that could be a resaon for rejection. I'm not saying that this happens all the time.

Good luck to those that were not successful this time.

Well I am still sitting in phase 2 waiting on the call. If I am not hired I will be disappointed but I won't be mad. There are countless pilots that would of loved to have the opportunity to interview with JB. Unfortunately, some of us will not get hired but that is nothing to feel bad about (disappointed ok). The reason that I applied to JB in the first place was because I believe in the airline. Thats not going to change if I am not selected! There are a lot of good pilots that have been turned down and some will reapply while others will not. Although I hope it does not come to it I will reapply in 6 months if needed. I will just have to wait and see what happens. KTF

Congrats IdlewildClimb! They ought to make this a reality TV show! I know that was a tough wait. I am only a week into it so I know where you are at!
Good Luck!
