I don't disagree with you on that. I wish I had a true pension plan and envy those that still do. But in light of the recent developments in the US with pensions, I'm grateful to have a 401k that is untouchable by the company or courts.

Anyway, I think now that FLYI is out of the picture, JBLU's yields (especially east coast) should show a marked improvement. FLYI's fares were ludicrously low.

Well, realistically so was DAL Songs, after all, they were willingly tossing money into the hole, while competing. From investor conference calls, one could learn, that jetblue maintained a premium above Song. Rumour has it, that the Song experiment so far has run 250M in red.

Maybe JetBlue should get a clue and start charging more for tickets. If not maybe they should cut employee costs and eliminate the pension plan. Oh that is right JetBlue does not have a pension plan. At least the pilots do not have to worry about that. Those pension plans can be a real pain. At least you have all that valuable stock. Welcome to the race to the bottom JetBlue.

Agreed but, a DC plan is also untouchable as it is in your name. Hopefully, you all will get a DC plan down the road. All of us need to push for more than a 401k for retirement. Best of luck to you guys.

It doesn't work, when you charge more than your product cost and someones else wants to sell their for 35-50% less than their cost, even though they know that will drive them off the proverbial cliff.

Hopefully Virgin America will back off and see that just being an LCC doesn't gaurantee profits. Is ValueJet next?? I actually think they had a full year loss as well. Anyone?? Perhaps we have reached the bottom. Prices can't be sustained at these ridiculous levels. I can't imagine JetWho, ValueJet or Front(3rd)tier asking for concessions in order to compete. Their wages are embarrassing and shameful the way it is. And not one of them has a decent retirement plan for their pilots, men who are willing to put in most of their working lives in service to them.

Continental is hiring, United is recalling in great numbers, rumors of American recalling later this year...perhaps the worm is about to turn.

Yeah, well one look at our pay rates explains why. Oh yeah, no medical benies, retirement, vacation, sick time, etc etc. And don't tell me that $600 a month family plan constitutes medical benefits. That is merely CAT's way of adhering to the law and "technically" offering a medical plan. Companies who have over a certain number of employees are required by law. Oh and don't forget the profit they make, yes profit off of the 142 guys. I sure would like to know how that $30,000 is doled out.

Wake up call....

Hopefully this is a wakeup call for my fellow B6 pilots... I hope the arrogant ones learn that we are not immune from the trials and tribulations of a tough industry. If we take this and learn from it, rework the business plan to incorporate the reasons why (other than fuel) our revenue slumped and didn't manage to keep up then we will be better off. Many of the pilots at B6 are furoughed from APA/ALPA and are just happy to be working at a major. Maybe some will go back to their former carriers and regret leaving us someday... just like some WN pilots did in the 90's. As far as our idiots who can't keep their jumpseat comments professional, I personally apologize for them... they don't have an internal filter... they can't help that. It's all part of the 5% rule that's been pointed out before.

We've hit our first big road bump... I feel that we have the right management team driving the bus. Only time will tell. I see it from the inside and know it but for others only future performance will be the true test. We are still a very young airline and will have many hurdles to navigate before we are out of the woods... on retrospect I don't think any airline is ever out of the woods. Ask Eastern/PanAm/TWA etc... Hell we turn SIX in 10 days...

To all of you union drum beaters who think that is the key to airline success... how long did it take NWA/UAL/USAIR to get a union... much longer than six years.

I wonder what your attitude towards others would be if someone at your company (it certainly wasn't you) would not have been smart enough to hedge fuel? They did and you've made money for now but those hedges are starting to expire. You may just find yourself in a different position in the future. Not that I would wish that on anyone, not even jerks like you that enjoy hardships of others.

Sorry to disappoint you but UAL has not failed. You may just be in for some competition that you didn't bargain for.
