I agree with you there, but then why do 99% of carriers have probationary periods? Is it a trade off to the company allowing them to fire whoever they want within the 1st yr in exchange for pay/benefits for others at the top?
All I am saying is that it doesn't have to be that way, that "ALAP" doesn't require it. I would just as soon a contract apply to all pilots as soon as they finish IOE. IOW as soon as they're off training pay (which is also set by the company), the entire contract would apply, not just parts. Why do you assume that a pilot group whose most pilots have less than 12 yrs of service would throw new hires under the bus? That's a pretty serious charge.
