The only in-house that has ever worked is SWAPA. That's only because the company helped set it up, fund it and supported it. Sure APA is an in-house but that only came after APA voted out Alpa which was an established union. It's easy to go from established national union to an in-house, since you already have a CBA, funding, committees, MEC/LEC reps and a working relationship with your pilots/company.

When you start off cold turkey and without company support (and especially a very hostile company stance from a NY based, Lorenzo disciple Barger) it's suicidal... like showing up to a gun fight w/ a Swiss Army knife.

Alpa is a turn key operation. Funding, support, legal, aeromedical and insurance. Fact... NO ONE legally has to pay a cent of dues money to any union until the date of the first CBA ratification... how long does it take for the average first contract in this industry??? About 2-4 years... so Mr. In-house union guy... who's gonna pay for all those dues that the BOB's refuse to pay during those 2-4 years in your in-house? Now w/ Alpa, they'll try to get you to pay dues, but will cover your expenses in the beginning.

Remember Colgan in KBUF??? Colgan had just voted in Alpa less than 6 weeks prior to that accident. They hadn't even finished voting in their MEC officers, yet Alpa was there w/ FULL support.

Now tell me, in-house union guys, BOBS and Alpa haters... Who would've done that for Colgan had they just voted in a in-house????

NO ONE... that's who.

Don't be soft in the head guys. This is your last chance. The end-game. Vote in your right to negotiate a better career... we've all seen how collaboration has worked... where's that premium again???? vote Alpa.

Tailhookah...

Why go with ALPA when we are having trouble getting 50% of our pilots to
vote yes? The in-house option would have far better participation. If a CBA is what we need go with the sure thing. Yes we all know its expensive......SWAPA did okay

Not happening

The inhouse crowd never has a plan.

There is no inhouse crowd. There are some people who hate ALPA with a passion, there are those who see no need for any union because they are just fine and finally there are those who are paid to oppose unionization. That's it.

Know it all? It's proven fact. I don't claim to be a know it all, but I am 100% dead on balls accurate on this one... you care to prove differently?

Another know-it-all.

There is no way you can criticize Tailhookah.....he is spot on! From your aircraft types you are obviously ex TWA. Why don't you reply to those who wish for you to back up your comment? What are you so afraid of? This isn't the ALPA of TWA or of the earlier times. You are not at TWA anymore you are at JetBlue. Just make sure you vote for the right guys for the JB MEC.

Hoover84,

Are you prepared to pay an initial assessment of 3000-5000 dollars minimum for start up costs of an in house?

Sir you are clueless.

Vote yes to ALPA or don't vote at all.

I've already voted. Done deal.

I would rather pay a $10,000 assessment out of my own pocket than vote for ALPA. I voted "Yes, Other." We need a CBA, but I couldn't bring myself to vote for ALPA.

For you guys who seem to want to command people how to vote, Eff you! You vote how you like, and I will do the same. Each of us should vote how we feel. I have to live with my choice, as must you.

If ALPA wins (which is very very likely), I will happily support ALPA. But I would be unhappy with myself if I had voted in their favor given my views and feelings about ALPA national. We must all vote in accordance with our conscience. Just be happy that I moved from a NO to a "Yes, Other."

I just hope we get some good volunteers, and a good MEC. I'll be voting in that election too.

I'm happy you voted and the "yes, other" is good enough for me. We will work hard and together to make the union work for us. Hopefully everyone follows your example and gets involved and votes in a great MEC.

Thank you. Seriously....thank you.

The more people who vote, the better the chances of a good MEC. Fringe interests have a hard time getting their way when they are diluted by the votes of the whole group.

I'm excited for the future, and I think we are going to see huge changes over the next year or two.
