Can somebody post a Jetblue line out of Lgb?Do you only fly to those couple cites on route to the east coast?Or do you get to JFK and continue to FLL or back across to Sea or Oak?And how long would it take to hold a line? Thanks for your help.

Flipper,

I think at this point (teething) we've been advised to use some scotch. Of course, that's advise from all the fighter pilots we know. Sound familiar?

Hope the flying is going well. Catch you on the air stairs.

Happy landings.

you make my point..

you're bitching because there are "crummy" trips in LGB..

how about eliminating the base...?
does that help you ... ?
no..

LGB is a small base with a limited and curfew reduced schedule..

you will never have a perfect setup out there..

but be rational and communicate your concerns but understand the limitations of producing a "perfect" mix to satisfy everyones desires and also maintain the productivity needed to be profitable in this horrific industry.

First off, I answered a question about the LGB trips. As you admitted, they DO suck. My last two trips were 17+25 four-days.
I think your point is "shut up and color" or we can close the base. There are many factors out here of which you appear unaware. I won't elaborate, this isn't the place to hang dirty laundry.

How long would it take to hold a reserve line out of LGB for a newhire? Also how often do you fly on reserve? And according to XAvate 16 days off is normal for non-commuters?

For anyone looking to make a career at jetBlue living on the West coast...don't expect to be based in LGB.

We have 51 crews and that's the end of that. End of story.

The only reason they opened this base was to cover irops, broken trips, sick calls and spares out West. The line holders are super senior guys who got a bone thrown at them. Any other BS reason like QOL is just a smoke screen.

Captains at LGB have not moved a number in 17 months. Even pilots on the property today have little chance of going to LGB as a Captain and you really can't afford to be an FO at a LCC for the rest of your career. Reserve Captain at LGB goes all the way to 330 out of more than a 1000.

The growth is on the East Coast. Boston is next. LGB is done.

If you have your heart set on a Western domicile, I would put Southwest and UPS at the top of your list.

JetBlue WILL be a transcon commute and it WON'T be pretty.

Anybody tells you any different is trying to serve you blue Jimmy juice.

ShadesofBS remarks are accurate about the LGB base. However having always been a "SoCal" guy I find the commute to NYC pretty painless. With online single leg commutes from SAN, LGB, OAK BUR, and a few more cities, and offline single leg commutes on AA and DAL it hasn't been too bad. Even the redeyes are good since it allows me to spend all day with my family and catch some sleep to show up early in NYC. Of course I would preffer to be based in LGB and hold a line but I"ll have to wait for that. It is hard though to live on FO pay out west. You have to do a good job budgeting to make it work.

This is all true today. But unless shades of BS [blue stuff] is calling the shots, he [she?] has no clue as to what the future holds. None of us do. So let us keep hoping for something to happen in Oakland (maybe dynamic basing, who knows?). It can't hurt you any, can it?

Won't disagree with you about the 17+25 four day..

If you're really an ex freight dog.... you should know better.
This place isn't perfect .... but take a look at everyone else.
This place is better than most and has a future.

I get tired of listening to people whine and bitch, bitch, bitch.
But they choose to live someplace with a triple leg offline commute.
They choose to spend more than they earn.
And the glass is ALWAYS half-empty....

Ask the UAL and USAirways guys how they feel.

June doesn't look bad on productivity..
But you can bitch about something I'm sure!!!
Commutability and rest periods!

Listen, buddy. I get tired of people that have it good telling the ones that don't to just suck it up and be grateful.
I have had 12 bases in the last 16 years (and yeah, I was a freightdog).
Maybe you would drag a wife and 3 kids around like that, but it's not the best way to grow up. I know, I'm second-generation 121 and that's the way I grew up. I'm sure you'll respond it's my own fault I have a family... I'll take that responsibility. I obviously prefer an easier commute to a better schedule and more money. That's my choice and I don't pawn it off on anyone else.
What annoys me, is the de facto basing of crews in LA while they are "officially" based in JFK. Scheduling calls NY based people that live on the West Coast to fly trips out of LGB and sit reserve in LGB hotels. Or home, if within 2 hours of LGB. If the need is there, grow the base. Increase the pool of trips and pilots and quality will improve. Why doesn't LGB staff for BUR and ONT flights?
I never bitched about the commute, rest periods, layovers, quantities of fluids in glasses, my personal finance, or even your sanctimonious lecture.
Don't put words in my mouth, it prevents me from feelin' the love!
I am grateful for this job, I've had much worse. I just want it to more closely mirror the values.
