Sad, no wonder our career is gone now, it is people like the ones on the thread below that have brought us to this point.
What has brought us to this point is the erosion of PIC authority and people who for whatever reason are too spooked by their own shadows to make a command decision. Yes, the report puts the blame on the station but the fact is the crew ultimately left the decision-making and responsibility for the flight and it's passengers to people outside the cockpit and allowed themselves be held hostage on the ramp for hours on end. When is enough enough? At what point do you say "no more"? Go to the FBO, wake the airport manager and/or TSA bosses up, take it up the chain of command until you get a satisfactory outcome. Do something!
"The Captain is the final authority for the operation of the aircraft and is charged with the ultimate responsibility for the safety of passengers, crewmembers, cargo, and aircraft for the designated period of duty. The Captain shall ensure that the highest degree of safety practical is established before that operation is conducted or continued."
