Folks if you have choosen to put your head in the sand and believe that the VM's would save jobs then your are mistaken. This has been along time coming, unfortunately it will affect all NJ employees and their families, not just pilots. I believe when the time comes the pilots are going to take a big hit. I hope that everyone that had there job saved by the VM over the last few months has taken this time to work on a plan "B".

If there is a viable plan B out there in this economy, I sure as hell haven't seen it.

NJ's is bleeding money at an alarming rate. I dont see anyway a furlough can be avoided. I also think pay consessions are next.

Before the '05 CBA, we were told pilot salaries accounted for less than 3% of the monthly management fees. Even with the increase in salaries, total could not have exceeded 6%. Eliminating a few hundred pilots would not amount to much in the overall scheme of things, especially when training costs take a huge bite out of those savings. I'm not just refering to the costs of the eventual recalls.

For the last two years, most new hires have entered the CE 680 and Excell fleets. Since company can't pick and choose pilots from specific fleets, seats would have to be filled, resulting in more training costs. A definite advantage of reverse seniority furloughs per the CBA.

Savings in office staff may not add up to much overall, but the redundancies we've lived with for so long are rediculous. About 40 VPs, and how many DO's, ADO's, etc. We have to get smart to survive in this environment. Paying a "consultant" 7 figures to come up with that horrendous paint scheme is where the big bucks will come from. Already they trimmed many millions by dropping a lot of those unecessary expenses. Time will tell but I'm a glass half full type based upon the results we've seen so far from our new leadership.

I truely feel bad for those now unemployed. Like many in this industry, been there done that. But consider one thing-concessions do nothing. Voluntary or not. Too many bodies will result in more furloughs-period. Unless it's cheaper to keep them on over the projected length of reduced flying.

I am sure all those layed off at Flexjet appreciate you jabbing them post after post about the 2 year recall, etc. How about privacy and space for all the others and their families that you have gone on and on about. You say you want to prevent rumors about this topic. You seem perfectly fine encouraging and perpetuating rumors about every other company. When you start practicing discretion in your 2600 posts maybe others will follow. I am sure the professional and sympathetic at Flexjet won't stoop to your level. You are the worst type of hypocrite.

UR, my (until the situation is resolved) comment included the lay-offs but also referred to the management/support re-organization as a whole. My observation is that NJ folks had waited a month or so for the process to begin in earnest and that holding off on the discussion another day or so until all the facts were in and final numbers known seemed logical as well as respectful for those at NJ who wanted a chance to digest the news privately first. (The pilots weren't given a list and have to compare notes to see who was laid-off). That said, I do recognize the desire many have to talk things over when a major event happens in the community.

So has the reorganization been resolved/completed? All jobs reassigned? Was yesterday it for the lay-off? I don't know. I guess we'll all find out together. Best wishes to all of the NJ employees/families adversely affected. NJW

No, but it's in work. Almost 50% of the MCC was let go. I don't know why we were hit so hard. 90% of the maintenance support in the field is gone. Reliability engineering is gone too. None of the management is gone. I presume when the reorganization is done, round 2 will take care of that.

Yeah, I was hoping for that also. Wacking the folks that do the work isn't what I was hoping for. I thought maybe that they, would get rid of the VP of Paper Towels?? I'm still hopeful that this guy will do something that makes more sense, time will tell.

I have gotten 0 responses. Yes, I've been saving money but plan "B" is a joke right now. It's frustrating as hell there just aren't a lot of jobs out there.

Wolf, to clarify, I was wondering if there will be other (non-pilot) staff reductions in CMH. It's a given that junior NJA/I pilots are understandably worried. Case in point, JP02's post.

Waco, I'm pretty sure that the "M" stands for maintenance. However, there's obviously no shortage of confusion -- so you did nail that.

RNO, I have my fingers crossed, also. There's a lot at stake and many are watching to see how the reorganization goes.

JPeace02, I think you're getting a lot of well-intentioned advice because NJ folks do care but just don't have any other answers to offer. So here's my simple but heartfelt comment... I am sorry that your NJ career has hit a rough spot. Hopefully, the future will be brighter. Hang in there! NJW

I have gotten 0 responses. Yes, I've been saving money but plan "B" is a joke right now. It's frustrating as hell there just aren't a lot of jobs out there.

I am with you. If I hear one more 10 year captain post that it will all be ok and I should have seen this coming and saved half my pay blah blah blah I will go postal (they aren't hiring either I checked). Lets face it. Unless you are furloughed or downgraded then it doesn't bother the pilot group at all except for a twinge of sympathy and then back to work. Heck some are even happy the VMs are going away so they don't have to feel guilty for coming off their reduced schedule. I have had no luck in the job hunt either. Most employers see my master's degree and my current salary and think I won't be around more than two weeks. They dont understand the way aviation works and that furloughs happen for years and not weeks. Wish I had taken the early out. I need a flux capacitor.

Sorry to read this. Having been furloughed from Citation Shares, I know what you are going through prior to the furlough and afterwards. It sucks. I was lucky enough to find another job quickly and it was due to my military background.

To all my former and current military brothers and sisters, start looking NOW if you think you are going to be furloughed. Here are some options for you that pay very well but will require you to be deployed to places all over the world.
