Spend much time in Brazil? I suggest mid February in Rio or a trip to Florianopolis in December/January (summer down there). If you are single, you will not want to come back. I guarantee it.

I also suggest this link. Do not click if you do not like hot chicks.

Try finding one of those at AA :p

BrazPilot...

WHAT LINK?

My "Garota" is visiting from SAO right now!

For those of you uninformed about Brasil, here are a few facts:

1. Brasil (with an 's') is only spelled BraZil in America. It is actually spelled with an S in Brasil.

2. Brasil is the world's largest producer of agriculture.

3. 80% of all granite used in everything from construction to your bath floor comes from Brasil.

4. In Brasil, it is not a given to go to college. Everyone competes to got to a very limited college slots. If you have an overall GPA of 95%, that might not be enough. BTW, public universities are much better than private ones, and they are also free (provided you can get in!)

5. Brasil is actually larger than the continental US.

6. The Brasilian president (Lula), who was just re-elected, is a common man with just a high-school education. He is continually fighting for the common worker, vs. high-dollar special interest groups, as in America.

7. Health care is free in Brasil.

8. And, YES, they do have indoor baths, running water, and electricity.

So if the US pilots turned off their transponder, they should be tried on 155 counts of manslaughter. If not, then they should be let free, but only after all the facts have been brought to light.
BTW, it has been rumored that the ATC controller told Legacy to "Hold" current altitude. But it is also rumored that ATC called Legacy numerous times after that, and Legacy did not respond.
Let the facts come out before we condemn the pilots or Brasil.

While I enjoyed looking at the link....we cannot have a link to playboy brazil on here. No posting of porn or links to porn. Although the girls on the link are dressed....barely, the adds on the page are too much.

sorry

Porn? OK...sorry, sorry. I'm American born but lived my teenage years in Brazil. Still living that culture and lifestyle. Girls running around in g-stings and tiny shorts is just something natural and normal. An @ss or a tit is no big deal (like that Janet Jackson scandal).

Anyway, for those that want to check the link out. Go to the usual playboy site, but add a .br to the end. Check out the Archive (arquivo) and select the month of September. You will see some furloughed Varig F/A's showing what is best in life.

Hope I don't get in trouble for this post :)

no trouble at all....I wish everyone would take a gander at the site....very very nice.

pilottodd....give me a ring when you can, you got the number?

Brasil is also full of extreme poverty and extremely high corruption and crime rates

Yeah, that is true. It kind of depends on where you go. Take a wrong turn in L.A. and you're toast. But I'll tell you what. I've NEVER seen such happy, joyful and life-loving people anywhere else in the world. Not to mention the food! Great "rodizios" and the globe's best pizza is found in São Paulo (even an article in AA's American Way confirmed that fact). Brazilians really know how to have fun and how to enjoy that beautiful country, even with what little they might have. Their folks are just great. The girls...not even going to talk about that. I just know I'm going down for vacation in January, (Iguaçu Falls) and I'm really looking foward to it :)
