You don't want them to spill coffee on their "Fast Break" service, do you? Think of the lawsuits if our stews were running around the cabin (fast) with coffee pots and they spilled on everyone! But, as a Gold (almost a Platinum) you are entitled to coffee whenever you want. You can also ask for sport scores, and I will do my best a cruise to find out what I can.

Bye Bye--General Lee

I can't feel my lower extremities on your flights, so spilled coffee won't hurt me. And the only sport I care about is pro hockey, so you're no help this season. And my passion and love for hockey is only exceeded by my unapologetic hatred for any level of basketball but especially college, so please refrain from disturbing me by announcing any of those stupid scores even if a Platinum member wants to hear them because even though I'm only Gold for now if you do I'll complain about your landings.

Not my landings......unfortunately most of them are autolands...

Not true. If you think about it, HNL is one of the most popular frequent flyer destinations. If you only HAD one flight, and now you have two, there are definitely some seats sectioned off for freq. flyer awards. At least more than if you only had one flight. You can't argue with that point, right?

And, I don't know about your second question. I do know that we have 25 million Skymiles members.

Bye Bye--General Lee

General, SkyMiles redemption is a big game. As simple as it is to say with more flights, there are more FF seats available, well, that is too simple. Exactly how many seats are available on any given flight is propietary information that neither you nor I have. Inventory control opens and closes award availability at will and those that try to redeem them anywhere complain a lot about availability. Therefore, to say that with more flights comes more seats works if you allocate a hard number of seats per flight. They don't. Availability is fluid, and with that I would say that just because a flight exists does not mean a flight exists with FF seats on it. So, on that basis, I will argue your point.

Am I trying to argue technalities? Am I even trying to argue that you're wrong or I'm right? Absolutely not. I am only trying to point out that it is not easy to redeem Skymiles awards at the reduced level, and that I feel DL could improve their customer image if they made the FF seats less of a hassle to redeem ala WN.

hey gl, my girl, a platinum medallion member just visited hawaii on your new non-stop flight out of atl. i say "just" visited because it was the first flight available on which she could use her miles since november 15th!!!! the funny part is, using dlnet, we could see that on some flights, there were as many as 135 open seats. wouldn't it be smart to open those up for award travel at least a week before the flight to maybe get some of those unused miles off of the books? how many people who actually purchase tickets wait until the last week to plan and buy tickets for their hawaii vacation??? so i guess yes, i am arguing with your point.

mm

p.s. i just realized that i used to consider delta my "home town airline"... now i tell folks its airtran. why do you think that is?

The most interesting thing that General said earlier was that

"Simplifares is for fares in the 48 contiguous states. You need to read the fine print in those ads. We don't need to have Simplifares to STT because no LCCs fly there. So, quit pissing on your own Wheaties----milk tastes better.

Bye Bye--General Lee"

General is making the argument himself. Without LCC competition, Delta will keep the prices way high in those markets, but he still wants DL to get credit for Simplifares.

Do any of the Simplifares beat the $ that AirTran is charging for the same citypair? Just curious.

Minime,

Enjoy flying Airtran to Honolulu. If you have a complaint, address it to the Skymiles people, they are a phone call away. They probably would write down your faults with our program and send them to the people in charge. I just drive the bus.

I don't make up the rules. I just read the fine print. We have domestic competition and we created a program to combat our competition. Why don't we just give away all the seats and make you happy? This is a business, and someday I hope we make money again, but I guess you want us to slash fares everywhere. LOL. We didn't slash fares everywhere, but we did loosen the rules for everyone---like no Sat night stay, lowered the change fee for everyone, etc. We did make it better for people, but mainly the walkup fares. Those were slashed, and that is where we will attract Airtran passengers that didn't want the $2000 one way same day tickets. So, everyone domestically will win---because now the highest one way same day ticket anywhere inside the USA is $499 for coach, $599 for first. Get it?

The biggest complaint I routinely hear from customers is that for 150 people on any given flight, you have 150 people that probably paid 150 different fares for the same flight. While DALs Simplifares are an attempt to remedy this and compete with LCCs, there is still too much fine print. If you buy a ticket on SW or JB, chances are that there are only 5 fares that were paid. On DAL you still have all the other website clearinghouse prices, etc. As far as not having the new fare structure on intl, dal doesnt do it obviously bc they dont have to bc of no LCC competition. Essentially theyve only changed bc the mkt says theyve had to. They were smart to make the change but being in this business it kind of bothers me the spin DAL has put on it as if they thought of it.

this thread, btw, is officially hijacked...
