Sooo, for all the "we lag behind industry" folks, maybe you need to look at the numbers again. Especially on the E190 side of the house-- YOU ARE THE BEST PAID E-190 PILOTS OUT THERE TODAY!!! Instead of just blindly saying we lag, maybe you can say we lead?
There is plenty of room for improvements from work rules to healthcare here at JBLU. But in some, if not many cases, we are better than our peers...
Hourly pay rates are meaningless without proper work rules. And when you take into consideration other benefits such as health care and retirement, the value of an hourly rate can change dramatically. Hourly rates are a small piece of a much larger picture when it comes to compensation and benefits. Numbers can easily be manipulated in order to please an employee.
A pilot making $130/hr and is flying 85 hours per month (7 hrs at premium pay) with 18 days off is going to have a much different pay check (and QOL) than a pilot with the same hourly rate flying 77 hours per month (no premium pay) with 12 days off.
Just sayin!
