Gee, what a shock. NJW appearing uncaring. In all of these posts not once have you been concerned about any of the other employees that were laid off along with the 70 pilots.

All of them should be brought back, not just the pilots NJW. They were laid off as a direct statement regarding the union activity as bargaining chips.

Have you not mentioned any of the others because in your opinion they didn't invest properly in their careers?

Yes, you appearing uncaring. It's not a matter of "appearing" uncaring. You ARE uncaring.

You sound like a big dork. Do you ever read what you post?

I don't remember the union telling ME or my coworkers (many of them card carrying union members) that we were being laid off either time.

It was clear that it was the union action that caused the problem both times. Many of the others went back to fly for the same companies. I went to greener pastures (no unions!) after the second time wishing never to have it happen again.
Definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. Work where there is a union? Expect the same turmoil and results no matter where you are.

So.. what's the question you want answered?

whaaa whaaa quit your fckin crying its pathetic....you act like your the only one who had rough time in aviation.

We get it.....you don't like unions....well ya know some of us here LIKE our union. So your gonna have to learn to live with that.

people are asking for a legitimate answer

again, just answer the question. did the union fire the 70 pilots?

don't hold your breath waiting for an answer.

FLOPs may actually become a place where Union and Management can actually work side by side. I would have never thunk it.:)

Change Is In the Air:
Flight Options and Pilots’ Union Announce Joint Cooperation

CLEVELAND, Ohio – August 11, 2008 – Flight Options, a leading provider of safe, reliable and luxurious private air travel services, and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 1108 announced today an unprecedented expression of mutual cooperation. Both labor and management have pledged to put their past differences aside and instead dedicate their efforts to achieving common goals.

Kenn Ricci, the chairman of Flight Options, recently joined negotiations with the Flight Options pilots’ union. When asked how his personal involvement will change the focus at the bargaining table, Kenn said, “Our employees are our most precious resource and we recognize that our pilots are the most important part of delivering exemplary safety and service to our customers. As such, we intend to offer our pilots a long-term contract that recognizes them as the best in the industry.”

Captain Mat Slinghoff, the union’s president, when reached at the IBT Local 1108 office said, “We are pleased to join with the Company to express both eagerness and confidence that our first Collective Bargaining Agreement is now within reach. The pilots share Flight Options’ goal of providing unparalleled safety and service to our customers.”

"The Union and Company negotiating teams are working day and night to finalize an agreement that satisfies both the needs of the pilots and the business. I’m confident that bright skies are ahead,” Slinghoff added.

NJW, sorry if I came off the wrong way. I am very frustrated lately, and I am sure it shows. It's also entirely understandable. Being put on the street from a company that I had put my heart and soul into is really devastating. Absolutely! I had every intention of staying at my previous employer for at least 3-5 more years, and I never saw what happened coming. Which I think is very wrong of them. Sharing info and allowing people time to plan is the right, decent thing to do. I have had a wealth of support from my fellow pilot, but I have yet to generate a job from any of my networking. A worrisome time for you. I can only pray that we can get back in the seat before it is too late, and everything we have worked so hard for has gone down the tubes. Perhaps you can take a non-flying job in the meantime. I thought by avoiding the traditional airlines I was somewhat immune to my current situation. Reminds me of a quote my parents use to tell me growing up, "if you want to hear god laugh tell him your plans." Parents also encourage their children to set goals and have dreams. You realized yours so that puts you far ahead of those who never even tried. I am so sick of this bumpy road, but my faith in people and my love of flying will carry me through.

I agree. The virtue of persistence is a valuable asset. It will see you through many difficult times. Do keep me posted on how things turn out. Best Wishes! NJW

That's awesome news, guys! I knew that was light I saw at the end of the tunnel...:) There's still a lot of work ahead, but progress will come much faster now and it will be worth it in the end. Sure sounds like they're talking industry standard to me.

Three cheers for bright skies and a new era at Flight Options!

I truly hope Ricci believes his own statement. You guys earned that respect. A word of caution however, don't count your chickens before they hatch. Ricci still needs to live up to those words.

No Flight Options did, and lets not forget about all the others that lost their jobs at the same time.

Now, did the United States begin WWII?

No? The war formally started after the attack, so the US must have been at fault, right?

Consider the invading union to Flight Options the same as an attacking army with Flight Options defending itself. The company doing the firing was defending itself against the invaders. They were bargaining chips, nothing more.

We get it.....you don't like unions....well ya know some of us here LIKE our union. So your gonna have to learn to live with that.

The only rough times I've had in aviation were the two layoffs and moving my family all over the country because of union selfishness. My unemployment as a result can be measured in days during my entire career. I like unions, as long as they are destroying somebody elses company and career.

I get torqued at the union attitudes and complete selfishness, forcing the union will into a company and employee base that doesn't want it.
