B19, this is the fractional threads. The fractional industry is NOT the same as the airline industry. Other than the fact that airlines and the frax both fly airplanes, their business models and operations are worlds apart. If you want to rant about airline unions, I suggest you post on the Majors and the LCC/Nationals threads.
Where are the moderators when you really need them?
Hey DA19, revenue and profit are two different things
First, I don't rant... that's Dimeline's job.
I didn't start the direction of this thread in that direction.
You are dead wrong about the two business models being worlds apart. The revenue models are different, but operationally, they are in fact quite simular and require virtually the same infrastucture.
I reject your suggestion as complete garbage.
All this babble has nothing to do with the thread.. It was about the RIF'd coming back. I am glad they are all back.
As for B19. . . all his other babble.....it is pointless.
Power percieved=Power achieved
It might be a drop in the bucket (i do agree)
But the the CEO of yesterday, part of his job was to motovate employes, the CEO of today is doing nothing but screwing employes, while lining his own pocket.
Just because there is revenue, doesnt mean there is profit.
In 2006 Uniteds CEO made more money than the company made that year.
+1, B19's diatribes gives me a headache! I wish he would go spout his anti-union crap on the majors and/or regionals forums.
The AMOUNT was more, but it was spread over several years.
The posted UAL profits would have included his salary as an expense, thus... they still made a profit regardless of what his salary was.
What I think is even more of a challenge though, is how Tilton managed a profit with a 6 billion dollar pilot payroll. To be successful in that challenge alone he should have been rewarded.

The pilot is the last line of defense in what he can control. He can't control the maintenance done on the airplane(except when the pilot performs preflight inspections), the fuel put into the airplane (except when the pilot gets a fuel sample from the truck), the reliability of the data provided for flight planning (Honestly, show me a pilot that doesn't review a dispatch release for accuracy?) or any of the other myriad of items that are accomplished everyday that make an airplane fly (that a pilot double-checks). For those items, he must rely on the people around him, (those nasty non-union workers) (there are SOOOO many maintenance shops that are non-union right?) as a result.. as I said earlier, the pilot is only the end user.

You wish is not my command though... and I find the 1108 mission to conquer the industry much more fascinating.
First NJ, next the world!!
(of course, they got pushed out of NJ, but that's a whole different type of humor for me)
So, how about those 128, huh?
