Havin' trouble makin' it on that measly salary, huh? It was especially touching when I had a newly displaced 767 FO complain how he was going to have to work sooo much open time because he had adjusted to the 767 pay. When I asked him how long he had been in the 767, he said "oh, just 6 months" Try swallowing that when your on furlough.

You deserve everything that your seniority allows. No question. Knock yourself out with all the open time you can stand. Doesn't bother me a bit. I am willing to wait my turn.

But if there is a furlough, that changes everything. Anyone who bids open time individually or collectively, in my opinion is a POS.

Does your Seniority entitle you to look the other way when guys hit the street?

Bit more to it than your myopic view. Our model was built over many years and contracts. We are guaranteed ONLY 65 hrs. Racetracking and weekends allow for time at home during workdays for a lot of us. So there’s a lot of open flying, and that gets the big paychecks while still not gone all month. And yes, the company benefits. How else do you think we can get the big money and still cost LESS than Astar????

So with a lower cost structure, who do you think will do more hiring, say, over the next 5 years????? (And therefore get the furloughs back)

With your (very ALPA-like) thinking, you’d increase costs dramatically just at a time when it mattered most, i.e., during a hypothetical furlough. ALPA has proved time and time again their model does not work. I think ours does.

If you quit thinking like a Frenchman, and start thinking like a capitalist, you might see there’s a bit more to it than your viewpoint.

Good.

Opionons are like a$$*&%!$. Everybody has one.

I'm not looking the other way. I've been furloughed; I didn't like it then, I wouldn't like it now. Then, I went and got another job because I had bills to pay and family to support. When that job looked to go the way of the dodo I found yet another before I was furloughed.

Just wanted to remind you that Astar has been hiring. I think they hired close to 50 pilots last year. This of course has been done even though Astar's cost "might" be a little higher. Why haven't you guys hired? You seem to be doing a lot of extra flying and picking up a few of Astars routes. I guess you are probably overstaffed.
Astar is refilling its pilot pool right now. Are you guys?
If you want to keep this going and start a race to the bottom, then by all means go ahead. It will only eventually catch up to you when Hete says that he needs to cut your pay to make up the $100 million DHL wants.
Hold the bar.

Hi Rhoid, good to see that you've come back under a new name!

That from "UPSer". You're a riot, smartboy

Now THAT's FUNNY. UPSer IS Rhoid. Along with IHaveAPension, RJDC, FreightNazi, GuppyKiller, TheGuppyKiller, E170GuppyKiller, OUT, ABXpert, 410Dude, LucyFurr, TheMissingLink, and all the other banned usernames he has used over the years.

What's up with ABX pilots making fun of Astar pilots lack of CAT II capability on Indy center freq last friday? Your CP Vollmer is not proud of you at all.

What makes you think ABX pilots give a rats A$$ what Voltmeter thinks?

Overnight express delivery business and no CAT II or III capability..... Kinda makes me chuckle.

DHL obviously does not care about this, or fully understand the potential implication. Which is even more frightening.

Abx has 28 aircraft parked idle and Astar has none. Abx will be parking 3 more 9's by the end of June and an 8. OK, Abx will add 4 boeings by years end. The math still looks bad.

We are overstaffed, and with rumors of the 8 going away completely and retirement going to 65. It will get even more stagnent and uglier than ever. Can you say deep furlough, for a long time.

I am not chuckling!

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and bet you are a "glass half empty guy". Am I right?

I respect that you are at least honest with your current situation. That does not say much for the rest of your union brothers. Once eveyone figures out that we are all in this mess together and protect our flying from getting pushed out the door to other low cost acmi carriers, we will be better off.
By the way for some of you others, sorry to disapoint you but I am not Rhoid.

According to Vollmer, since your new uniform vendor is up and operating with the proper color of grey, he expects each and every one of you to wear the full and correct uniform. That includes the hat. Most of you guys could stand to take a lesson in professional appearance from one of the handful of you guys that acutally dresses properly, Capt. H. Moran. Now he looks like an "airline pilot" not a freight dog.

Still keep hearing rumors of CAT, ExpressNet and Kalitta looking for work in ILN.

How'd you get 200+ posts out of that username without getting banned?

Really, you've become quite boring

What up?

Is the one you refer to as "Rhoid" an Ex Airborne Expresser that now fly's for UPS? I'm getting that vibe.

Yeah, except he doesn't fly for UPS, either. I don't think he pilots anything

You're right, I make up and read on the internet everything that I know about the two companies and the airlines in general. I can fly for whomever I want online!

I will say the dude seems to know a lot of what's going on at both companies.

I just get my info on R1 nights and that's only when a few key informants are there. One that comes to mind begins with B, ends with A and hubba in the middle.

So you are the messiah now sitting upon the hill and calling all the shots for five year plans. Did DHL send you a crystal ball or is this just another mission impossible?
You haven't worked for DHL long enough to figure out that there is no five year plan. Granted we are all just providing to the customer, but we all also know who is really calling the shots.
One thing I do know about a five year plan is survival. DHL is not interested in anything else right now except survival in North America.

Go back to school for some remedial reading. Nowhere did I claim having any "five year plan". I merely said lets see who does more hiring over the next 5 years.
Let me spell it out for you, since we're talking about furloughees. I'd rather be on the bottom of our seniority list than yours.

Now I could see someone with your reading skills might conclude from that statement that I'm at the bottom of our seniority list. Just to be clear, I'm not.

Yep, gotta wear a hat to fly an airplane. Lets the rampers know that you are either a pilot or a skycap...

hehehehe.

Good, I value my life to much to ride on a jumpseat of the above mentioned carriers.

Lucky for you, Rhoid, he doesn't work for any of those "above mentioned carriers".
