You do realize that Captain Maxwell isn't some guy from ALPA National, right? He's an Eagle pilot. He flies a full schedule just about every month. He might get a trip drop every few months for a meeting, but that's about it. He's not some Herndon big wig that you're envisioning, trying to screw over the Eagle pilots from afar, because he is an Eagle pilot.

Never let facts and reality get in he way of a good conspiracy theory. When I said look to your left or right to find someone to blame, this is who I was referring to in theory.

The first line of the letter:

FROM ALPA NATIONAL VP TOM MAXWELL

So either the letter is fraudulent or your first statement is incorrect.

Actually, it's EVP, not VP, and that's correct. But the problem is that you don't understand what an EVP does. Captain Maxwell is an Eagle pilot. He flies the Embraer. And he flies pretty much a full schedule. Every couple of months, the Executive Council has a meeting to go over Association finances, proposed policy changes, MCF requests, etc., and he takes a trip to Herndon or DC for a few days. That's it. He's not one of the four national officers on full time union leave. He's an Eagle pilot doing the same job you're doing, under the same work rules, with the same pay rates. The idea that he's screwing over Eagle pilots because he's just some fat cat in a corner office is asinine. He's just an Eagle pilot with many years of both flying and union experience trying to offer some advice.

Thanks for clarifying things. You can see how one could easily think that the first line implies that this is a statement on behalf of ALPA National; perhaps he should not be permitted to use that line unless he is speaking on behalf of National. He should have signed it Tom Maxwell, "concerned Eagle pilot" (as the advice according to you is nothing more than his personal opinion).

That said, I don't think he is just offering some friendly "advice." The letter is a persuasion letter, trying hard to advocate a certain position.

This ^.

First of all, Moak signs off on Pinnacle's new contract. Then the Eagle MEC receives this Letter from Maxwell? How else can this be read as?

Personally I would rather fix ALPA than try to start anew but as long as the leadership at National will only look out for those at the majors, while shunning everyone else, it will never happen.

At this point the only thing ALPA might understand is a mass exodus of all the regionals, accompianied by the loss of around 30% of ALPA's revenue.

Peace.
