Does anyone know if ALPA has actively tried to bring the American pilots back into the big family?

During the AA purchase of TWA, APLO was running a membership campaign in Dallas to bring ALPO back to AA. All of this happening while ALPO national was telling the TWA pilot group that they had their back and was supporting our (TWA) efforts.
 
Correct.... and it nearly worked, too. We had close to 40% support from the membership. ALPA wanted a commitment of 50% before they put the recruiting machine in full motion. Then 9/11 happened and it kind of died away.

I think there is enough dissapointment with ALPA today that would prevent it from happening in the future. You never know, though.

Thank you, I was not aware of the membership drive. I don't remember reading about it in AirLine Pilot magazine.

Well, it wasn't very publicized. We had a few higher ups at APA that were organizing the whole thing and distributing cards, but I suspect it was being kept quiet for obvious reasons.

There were 3 or 4 domiciles that had passed resolutions of support for ALPA. The "drive" died with the AAPA concessionary deal.
 
Now, now. According to our Rez-ident ALPA schill, we're just bitter old ex-TWA pilots. We just need to go away and let ALPA continue to thrive and gain industry-leading contracts for its pilots.

So let's get out there and volunteer for ALPA work! Come on! TC
 
No offense, but you TWA guys are like a flock of vultures that circle, using superhuman senses to spot any thread that has anything to do with AA. As soon as a thread is detected, you <swoop> in for the kill. You could have a thread titled "Will AA fly to Tel Aviv?" and within 4 postings, we'll be back to an AA/TWA steel death-cage match. :D

Concerning this thread, the focus is anti ALPO and not anti AA. As far as your post goes, all I can say is if you experienced what the TWA pilot group had to endure, I'd bet my last dollar that your attitude would be much the same
IMHO. We do have super human ability though so you're not totally wrong.

My union affilitations in order by airline. All weak; management strong. Everybody complain; little change. All as f-ed up as the next. Management wins. Never too early for beer.

I guess it depends on where you are based. In 2003 the NY domicile invited Duane Worth to a base meeting, the turn out was well over 150 in attendance.

Duane gave his sales pitch for APA to rejoin with ALPA, and fielded many questions...My question was "do you feel that the AA TWA merger of the pilot group was fair?" His answer was "YES....I would have had NO problem signing off on it".
 
ALPA also locked down the Eagle group and then sold them down the river in order to gain support of APA members. More pilots have sued ALPA than Lorenzo.

LOL of course Worthless thought it would be fair to screw a Charter Alpa airline with 2,301 TWA pilots and gain over 14,000 combined TWA/AA dues paying pilots! Similar was the UAL, DAL, NWA MEC's turning their backs on the TWA pilots just in case their airlines merged with another..so they could screw the other airline's groups of pilots. gotta luv it!

Oh absolutely, no question. I guarantee it. No question whatsoever. So when the going got tough for the TWA ALPA pilots, Duane got............CAL back in ALPA. He also sat next to APA, gently rubbing their leg, nibbling at their ear saying "don't you worry sweatheart, TWA meant nothing to me. It's you that I love. It's always been you". Meanwhile, on his answering machine at home: "Hello, Duane? Pick up would you. Hello?....Ok, I guess you are not there again. Anyway, it's TWA pilot again. Just wondering why you haven't returned any of my calls. Call me back when you get this message. It's important. Bye"

Some TWA pilots live in a constant state of denial about the truth.

After 9/11 the TWA operation cost AMR a BILLION DOLLARS every year off the bottom line.

One billion dollars in losses every year directly from that abortion.

TWA is the worst thing that ever happened to AA.

I can only say I wish we'd found out if they would have survived on their own instead of them helping drive this company to the brink.>>
