Now we have a troll masquarading as a frenchie. HAAAA!! I'll give you that for innovation, the French are sooo easy to make fun of!

the real point

Is it just me or are a lot of people missing the point of this 'trial'??

This is the STATE OF FLORIDA charging these guys with a TRAFFIC violation.

I feel they should be punished but should it not be the FAA doing it ??

As it stands, this could open the door to double jepardy ... Both the FAA and the LOCAL government going after you for the same violation.

Even bigger than that is this sets a precedent for local athorities to make local flight rules. Can you say 'speed trap'? Every little airport could turn into a third world country with it's own unique laws .... What if Florida decided that the LEGAL limit for drinking and driving was say .... .00000000000000000001% and / or 30 days ??? As I understand it ... in Florida you can be charged with DUI as long as the KEYS are in ignition ... even if you are SLEEPING in the trunk. As planes have no keys does this mean you corprate guys could be charged if you have a drink onboard before you head off to the hotel ?? My god, I haven't even touched on the OPEN CONTAINER LAWS !!!!! Last time I checked, a lot of my PAX had drinks in their hands....

The law that they make up in not important ....heck, some of them might make wonderful sense .... the problem is HOW are we going to keep up with the local 'Deputy Bubba' laws ??

Again, these guy screwed up and should be punished !!!!!!! But CORRECTLY !!!!

To you FAA guys .... what happened to the .04% and / or 8 hour rule ?? Why did Florida HAVE to step up to the plate to make an example of these guys ?? They broke a FEDERAL LAW !!

Sorry .... just a little torn between knowing these guy are wrong and that the backdoor way they got what they deserved should NEVER have been allowed to be opened.

Anyone else have an opinion on this ??

Nice Racist post, Hope you feel better.

All the name calling on this board really give us a good reputation.
There is nothing wrong with disagreing with people, but what about some respect for eachother.

Dog Driver:

You are exactly correct. This is a travesty I pray will end up in front of a Federal Circuit Ct., or being heard by the Supreme Court, on grounds that it violates the Constiutional protections against Double Jeopardy and on the basis of Federal Subject Matter Preemption. This sort of politically motivated prosecution is how freedom ends.

Now that the FAA has revoked their Certificates, their airline has fired them, their union abandoned them - the State of Florida wants to put them in prison for five years.

Surely they broke a city ordinance, an airport rule, and pissed off the security guard that was trying to take the Captain's Coffee away from him. Are all these folks going to try to make political hay out of these pilots' stupidity as well?

Aside from the legal arguements, isn't five years a little stiff on a first offense when the vehicle was never moved? I know these guys intended to fly, but in Florida it is no crime to sit in your pickup truck and drink beer - they even seem to tolerate peeing off the tailgate everywhere but Naples.

Being French is a matter of nationality, not race. And you must admit, as a Nation, they are sort of known as being surrender monkeys.

If you wanted to be racist, you could say that Sophie Marceau has physical traits that make a kinkameggasuper hottie, and I would agree :)
