All I learned is it's a lot of work being pissed off about stuff in the past.
Good luck!This is just a thought.... & I know it is going to be tuff to hear. But, - In order to save jobs at this point, TSA pilots may have to under cut Go-Jet and consider ridding ourselves of ALPA.
Just a thought - no need to tear me apart. I'm just facing reality as we are not in any kind of a position.
my post was in no means to be condescending to anyone. My point was that it is tough out there. There are MANY pilots that simply want to continue doing what they enjoy and have worked hard to accomplish. I do not look back at my flying at CHQ as anything but a good positive experience. I made many great friends, improved on my flying skills and used it as the stepping-stone that it was. My point is that there are many qualified pilots out there on the street. Many unable to live on unemployment. I know some who have/are losing their homes. They were not living beyond their means, simply could not replace their income with the jobs that are available. So if GoJets is their only choice then they should not be treated as "SCABS" but as fellow pilots making hard choices in hard time.
Now as far as "I had my time, leave the jobs to CFI's"
That is not fair to any furloughed pilot. They have and continue to pay their dues. They have worked hard and are victims of the current economy. Just cut them some slack. You too may someday have to walk in their shoes. I hope not, but who knows these days. I have tried to help many pilots move on to better jobs. I have NEVER refused a fellow pilot any assistance, be it a letter of recommendation walked into the CP office, or a few phone calls to try to help find work. So please, back off and be thankful you have a job.
I wish more pilots had Oldman's attitude. This industry would be a far better place if they did...

In this job market, I don't think anything's really possible right now...extreme times call for extreme measures. Rather or not the person classifies flying for GoJet as part of that is up to the individual. This time in history seems to be different than the standard "hard choices in hard times" remarks of the past. On pace to lose over 800,000 jobs this year with no end in sight....
Capable of doing things other than flying? Sure...Actually getting the job somewhere regardless of if it's flying or not? Good luck...
I might not agree with Gojet but I wouldn't bash the guys that decide to go either....I'd say just leave 'em alone....
So if southwest says it wants to get 747's but they are going to start a new company to fly them. They will use the same management, same training dept, same schedulers etc...but new off the street pilots, are you going to let those guys on your jumpseat?
Then 3 years later that same new company wants to put some 737's on property. How would you feel then?

As I was talking with my buddy the other day I saw a GoJet guy get denied the jumpseat on ASA the other day. The guy showed up, presented his credentials and nicely asked the Captain. The Capt looked right at him, laughed and said "No scabs, get out of my face".
Turns out the GoJetter had been denied 3 jumpseats in a row including other airlines and was trying to get home to a family emergency.
Man that's rough....
I saw that too. The last time CEO worked was in 1975? There are plenty of non ALPA carriers approved by the company and CASS.So no Southwest or American pilots in your jumpseat?
Your missing the point.
If airline "x" flies say a 100 seat aircraft. Wants to fly 150 seat aircraft. But the labor costs would infringe on profits they decide to open a new company..."Y" then hire new pilots. Year 1 pay and can undercut all other airlines because of the new low labor costs.
This hurts all pilots because this new company can undercut all other airlines prices. So when Comair went on strike to bring up the pay, Go Jets just did the opposite.
It doesn't matter if you fly a CRJ in China. The low cost airline affects us all. Now if no one went to fly at Go Jets then they would have had to use the TSA pilots and pay them accordingly. But people got greedy and wanted a quick upgrade. Now don't give me the song and dance about people needing jobs. The jobs were there all along. Sleezy management just moved them from TSA to Go Jets. So if no one took the jobs at Go Jets then they could go to TSA. Where the jobs should have been in the first place.
But yes you do have a point, we are all flying someone else's routes.
So why does nobody call TSA pilots scabs? Aren't they flying routes that would otherwise go to Eagle at a cheaper price than Eagle pilots would get paid?
By your reasoning then Eagle should be scabs because they are flying TSA routes that came from TWA.
TSA was origanally flying for TWA before the AA aquisition. But yes you do have a point, we are all flying someone else's routes. I still would protest a GoJet jumpseaters though, everyone else welcome.
Than go ahead and Protest CAL pilots as well...and UAL, AA..the list can go on with scabs!!
TSA is flying former Eagle routes out of MIA that were not godfathered in with airplanes they lease from AMR (that are returning to Eagle if I'm not mistaken).
