Just refuse to fly with anyone over 60 for safety reasons.

The language of this legislation calls for review in 2 years. If you flood your airline with ASAP/FSAP reports and if you need to, fill out a NASA report separately, also report to the FAA any and all issues you encounter on the line with pilots over 60, perhaps they'll rethink the rule in 2 years despite of what the rest of the world with REAL pilot shortage is doing.
That's when it'll come out - there are not enough pilots abroad, hence to ensure their own economic growth, they have to bend the safety rule a tad.
We have plenty of younger, healthy, well-qualified pilots - we don't have to bend any safety standards.
Nice. Take bonafide and effective safety programs and distort them for personal gain. Even if this would work the way you hope, what's to stop the older pilots from doing the same in retaliation?
If you do attempt this it will be readily transparent to your safety team that indiscriminate ASAP reports are being filed and my guess is the only one feeling any negative results will be you.
...that Bush will sign this into law immediately, or would he tell Congress to pass a spending bill for the war before he'll sign anything? Just curious, because I hadn't seen anything in the news that he signed it into law today like the guy with the space shuttle in his avatar said he would. Just curious...now back to my regularly scheduled bottle of courvossier.

Congratulations on a job well done, with a very long overdue result.Senate passed HR 4343 by unanimous consent this evening at roughly 2145.
When Bush signs it, it's law.
Hayes, etc. will present it to White House tomorrow AM to try to get this signed
ASAP.
More info tomorrow.
You're right--65 is as discriminatory as 60, barring any credible evidence that another arbitrary age limitation should be imposed. There has certainly been no such evidence brought forth during this controversy.Guess what's APAAD doing 4 years from now?...you got it, age 70 retirement age change campaign. Wait and see these baby boomers always get what hey want.
That may be your understanding, but to the so-called "pocket veto" is rarely used, and then only in cases where there is clearly a desire or motive to quash a legislative measure. There is no indication whatsoever in this case that the president does not want or does not intend to sign the bill into law. There's another option:
4. Pocket veto - the President has 10 days to sign the bill into law. If he doesn't sign it within those 10 days and Congress is still in session, then the bill automatically becomes law. If he doesn't sign the bill, and Congress adjourns during those 10 days, then the bill does not become law and is effectively vetoed. I'm not sure if Congress is going to adjourn by the 22nd, but if it does without the President's signature, then the bill becomes void. At least, that is my understanding.
No way I am going to die at the controls.....I am punching out early...what good is life if you can't live it.
You don't look like an airline pilot anyway so WTF do you care?
Good day all, and again, Congrats to the APAAD guys you are smart.
Really, please tell us all how you can tell who "LOOKS" like a airline pilot by their posts!! Thanks for your generous post contribution....![]()
He already did.I never said that there was such an indication, merely that there was another option. I actually expect the President to sign this, unfortunately.
The minority has outmaneuvered the majority.. Good show, APAAD...
I will gladly vote to decertify ALPA at my carrier. I would rather go it alone with a stand alone union than be lied to by the union I pay to watch over my career progression.
That is what happens when the majority are apathetic. Air Line Pilot Careers require responsibility on the owner of the career! Who owns your career?
Let me guess you pay ALPA so they must provide a service to you?
It doesn't work that way! ALPA does a poor job and creates this service mentality. It needs to stop. But pilots also need to quit expecting ALPA to be thier Santa Claus....
Merry Christmas... your gift this year is the realization that your career is your responsibility and self government is via self.
