Please let's not start to speculate based on the news reports. No one knows yet exactly what happened. We should leave it to the experts to determine the cause (or the likely cause).

Sincere condolences to the victims' families.

Discussion of a an accident is a very good educational process. At this point news reports are all that anyone has to go by. This does not mean that any speculation is fact, we all know that. I see that you are a military guy, they in fact love to sweep everything under the rug and hide everything, the result is that not one person learns a thing. They have reasons for doing that one is that military flying is basically very dangerous and very high in risk compared to the civilian counterpart, in other words the nature of the beast. No where on this board has anyone said that they have come to a bonifide conclusion. With the increase of RVSM airspace this is simply a reminder to all of us that we need to be more vigilant and aware that only 1000 feet seperate us from a real disaster. Cheers.
