We could have achieved the same results, if not better, by simply temporarily shuttering the red label program.

You know I'm not wrong. Paying 1/3 of your pilot group up to 40% more to sit at home does not make sense.

In these trying times, I'm grateful to have a job and even more grateful I didn't make the jump to 121. I think biz-av will eventually score big when we get back to work but in the mean time the exhorbitant payroll costs of Red Label is hurting the pilot group as a whole right now.

To be honest, I'm happy we don't have a union right now. Swiftness and hard lines are the only way to stay afloat right now. Management has my support for the time being. I hope they are willing to do what's right for everyone, not just a chosen few.

And this exactly why Ricci does what he wants with you guys with zero recourse. Grow a spine, for crying out loud!

Bingo! I'm not certain of the exact rules of taking the money, but it's likely he couldn't take the money while "owing" his employees pay. After all, the money is supposed to actually be to pay the employees. It seems like the true bellwether of things with KR is the 401K match. Things aren't really going well until that starts back up again. KR didn't keep his promise to pay up on all he owed to the pilots, the taxpayers did, to the tune of $84 million. Same old smoke and mirrors from KR.

Personally though, I hope things pick up for all of us, and Flex continues to provide some competition to Netjets. A little competition is good for the company to keep refining the product, and helps all the employees when it comes time for negotiations or raises. Plus, I don't want to see any aviators out there struggling. Pilots out of work struggle, and there's already enough of that in society.

Yep, you're right I am keeping my head in the sand. After 50% +1 of our pilots chose to piss away any chance of a say in our future it is the only survival mechanism available to me now. Don't judge me for just trying to do whatever I have to do to no longer really give a $hit what Ricci does to/with his company as long as I can pay my mortgage and feed my kids.

The thing about Ricci is he is extremely consistent. There is nothing unpredictable about him. He will avail himself to whatever benefit there is in the system. He is very open about it and on the record with it so why this comes as a shock to anyone is mystifying and why anyone even cares anymore is more mystifying.

The only thing Ricci has ever done inconsistent with his liberal bent is be against a union. He was, after all, Clinton's personal pilot and he is quoted as saying one of the most leftist profs at Notre Dame is his mentor. He's made no secret of his true ideology if you actually listen. He's actually pretty honest when you think about it.

So listen to me as I bet I speak for the majority of pilots here now: I am the model employee - a broken man just looking to survive. I'm too old to go to the majors and too young to retire. So with no hope of a union ever beating him (even with the miniscule chance one would ever even be elected again he'll always win) I will just ride the Ricci wave as far as it takes me. Maybe I can even bend my knee far enough to be a Red Label demi-god and see my dick grow 10 inches longer or so I hear happens.

Kenn Ricci, to his credit, built this company on the backs of pilots as greedy as the day is long. He knew them better than they knew themselves. Sure, you may disagree with his methodology but give credit where credit is due: this little known (outside of aviation) billionaire did what even the great Warren Buffet has been unable to accomplish. It has nothing to do with the strength of your union but rather everything to do with how the game is played.

Idiots come up to me all the time trying to join in on the new secret union push. I want nothing of it. Life is too short.

When the heck was KR one of Clinton's personal pilots?! I flew for him from '91-'97. He certainly wasn't flying Clinton then. Haven't heard of him flying Clinton between `97 and now. There wasn't a single person I can think of that I worked with who ever mentioned KR ever flying for Clinton. He had started Corporate Wings well before I got there. He founded Corporate Wings in '81. I graduated college in '89, and remember applying for a flying job there that year. So was he flying for Clinton when he was freshly graduated from flight school? More ridiculous self-promotional lying from KR. Just like when he said he flew in the military. Yeah, uh, he was never in the military.
