Sorry Dan, but maybe you don't run into many Easties out there in HNL. Almost everyone of them to a tee thinks they are way inferior to the Westies. It is almost comical. Bird has every right to feel the way he does, he and the others are being raped. They were legally awarded an SLI, and for years they haven't moved up, haven't gotten a pay raise, nothing, all thanks to a group of crybabies . I think your own opinion Dan would change if you actually met one of them and asked them their opinion about their own merger.

Lesson for all, it's not 1988 anymore- if you have no common sense since 9/11, (or will to live, I guess), or haven't got the memos that are increasing, don't just throw people up in the JS, check the sh/t out of them- get back to basics. And if you are jumpseating, have ALL your docs ready and even make the comment "here's everything, don't know about you, but our company and feds are really coming down on all that" Set the example, and make it easy for the captain to check everything-

Actually General I know a LOT of east guys. I flew for Henson at one time and a lot went to Piedmont and Usair. One good friend is, in fact, a pathalogical USAPIAN, he's a good guy other than the whole USAPA deal has twisted him and defined much of his life. Another, is quite embarrassed by USAPA, but just gets on with his life and is better off for it. Personally, I judge people individually and not by their airline affiliation. I think you can agree that their are mostly good people and a few idiots at every airline. Even those flying into Lubbock!

Jumpseat Incident Update

Please allow us to stop several rumors running rampant in both the media and our crew rooms.
As this incident is still the subject of an ongoing FBI and TSA investigation, we are not at liberty to fully disclose all the details however; here is what we can say.
As most of you are aware, last week one of our crews had a very eye-opening reminder as an older man entered the cockpit, introduced himself as an Air France Pilot and struck up a conversation wanting to know if US Airways and Air France have a reciprocal jumpseat agreement in place? Innocent enough?.right?
Actually no, not innocent at all!
Thankfully, we had a crew who was tuned in to their surroundings and began to have serious suspicions-- almost immediately-- about the validity of this individuals? claims to be an Air France Pilot.
At NO TIME did our crew ever intend to let this imposter ride the jumpseat. Thanks to being aware of our policies and procedures they were immediately suspicious and had no intention of letting him stay in the cockpit, much less ride the jumpseat. This individual never asked to ride the jumpseat and never presented his credentials for the crew to verify. While briefly talking with him, it became evident that he did not know where the jumpseat was, much less how to operate an Airbus jumpseat. As soon as the agent arrived with the flight closeout, the Captain asked the guy to return to his seat in the cabin. After the flight departed without the individual even on the airplane, the crew continued to evaluate what had gone on and decided to notify the Dispatcher via ACARS of additional things that were abnormal about this individual. Our crew did a great job!
You might ask how did he even get into the cockpit in the first place?
During boarding, with all Flight Attendants in their assigned positions, if the ?A? is serving pre-departure drinks, there is no one in the front of the airplane to keep a passenger from wandering innocently into the cockpit. This guy simply took advantage of this gap in cockpit access security and helped himself to an open cockpit door. This is a procedure we are reviewing as we look for ways to improve cockpit security during boarding.
There are many more details that began in the gate area and ended up on the airplane that ultimately led to his being removed from the airplane and ultimately to his arrest; for among several other things, impersonating an Airline Pilot.
With the investigation ongoing, we will keep you updated as much as we are able to.
At this time it is prudent for all of us to review our policies and procedures for allowing jumpseat riders on our airplanes. First and foremost, ask for and actually look at the credentials (id, license, medical, jumpseat form- is the CASS verified box actually checked?). Do these items look and feel like the real deal? Talk with the pilot-- can they answer questions that any real airline pilot should be able to answer. How do they act? Are they looking around like they don?t know where anything is? Are they trying to just get home or are they trying too hard to get in the cockpit?
In Gavin DeBecker?s book ?The Gift of Fear,? the author discusses ?things that just don?t seem right? or ?things that make the hair stand up on the back of your neck for no apparent reason.? Things that you attribute to ?intuition? are actually based on facts that your subconscious mind has registered but your conscious mind is only vaguely aware of and are most often quickly dismissed. Use your gut feelings. If something doesn?t feel or look right, investigate further. Just like a low oil pressure light coming on in the cockpit. Does the gauge verify what the light is telling you??? Verify, verify, verify.
Ask yourself: ?Would I rather be at 39,000 feet wishing I had not let this guy on the flight deck, or would you rather be at 39,000 feet wondering if the guy you left at the gate was legit or not??
If you ever feel that something in not quite right, check it out. Call Dispatch and include them in the loop. Many times they have resources to find obscure sections in our manuals much quicker than we can. Yes, on-time performance is something we watch, but the safety and security of our flights is not something that we should ever compromise.

I'd be very careful with your previous statements/accusations (just citing one of your quotes as an example). Don't think because you can hide behind a username called Bringupthebird that your ID cannot be exposed. All that is needed is the company finding out about your rants and posts thus contacting the owner of this board and your ID is exposed quicker than Brian Cohen's when he opened the window in Life of Brian. The company has called people in before (east vs. west dispute), and it does not seem to be a pleasant experience when you are being questioned about your emotional behavior in a professional environment. I have been around the block long enough to realize that there are always two sides to a story; whether it was the aftershock of the BA/BR merger oder the SR/LX merger (which in parts comes pretty close to the east vs. west nightmare). No one is ever 100% right. I have also seen individuals like you that feed their Schadenfreude on the misery and despair of others like blue bottle flies circling excitingly over the last known fresh dropping of Loxodonta africana before it's inglorious extinction. Today, you are obsessed with the merger and the NIC and repetitively stir up the same old garbage; not too long ago you shamelessly picked on those "unworthy" RJ pilots, just because you seem fortunate enough to check in with Langen Radar or talk to Maastricht Centre.

Reading your posts about your mighty untouchable airline in it's usual overwhelming positiveness, it sounds like you spent more time under the desks of management sucking on tubes and pipes than actually piloting an airplane. Who is drinking Kool-Aid and is being brainwashed here?

Regarding the two posters you'd mentioned (hell, even Grumpy), if they are attractive females similar to the one in my avatar, sure why not? Why do you ask, you don't like boobs?
