It all must be true because the press said so in the paper.....Bird just has an axe to grind so he figured he'd start this crap thread. Anyone with any common sense can see multiple holes in this story.

There certainly are multiple holes in the story, but if in fact it took the crew until the Frenchman started to struggle with the jumpseat before they even "got suspicious", that does give one pause. And even then it sounds as though it wasn't until the gate agent "discovered" him in the jumpseat that anything actually got done about it.

You go right ahead believing what you read. I'll use common sense and go with the odds of that being accurate and actually happenning are pretty slim.

I'd like to know the thought process that caused you to spout out a knee-jerk reaction to a headline without even bothering to read the article at all. Or even reading the thread you are posting in.

I'd like to know the thought process that allows you to accept initial media reports as accurate? What kind of "ticket" are we talking about. Most of the media would assume a jumpseat pass or a Zed is a "ticket" just like any other. Obviously he was trying to scam the system somehow with an altered ID and a lame attempt at an Air France uniform. Apparently he thought this "ticket" authorized him to ride in First Class. Everyone is after the crew and it isn't clear how the hell he even got to the aircraft in the first place. Did he use his Air France ID to get past TSA security? Lots of questions to be answered here. This needs to be investigated properly, and proper action taken once all the facts, not media speculation, are known.

I suppose you're right. It's at least as likely that he was actually just minding his own business sitting in 29B.

Well the new issue of AARP monthly just came out so the seasoned veterans of the east were probably both distracted on the article of how to tip only 3.36% at Denny's for the early bird special....

I thought non-US air carrier pilots are not allowed to occupy the jumpseat on any US carrier.

EXACTLY!!!!! Come on guys!! If he did in fact get so far as to struggle with the jumpseat, both of the guys in that cockpit pulled a major dumba$$.

It should go like this: "who are you with?"

"Air France"

"Well, you're not riding up here then."

Hope the article is not true.

I thought non-US air carrier pilots are not allowed to occupy the jumpseat on any US carrier.

If this is true, it appears that the Easties have a hard time figuring out basic concepts, like Foreign pilots can't ride in US jumpseats, and binding arbitration is just that, binding. Just sayin!!!!

Have I ever been unclear in my support of west pilots in their debate?

This thread, however, is nothing more than a biased slam-
C'mon- you may view them as enemies, but NEVER COUNT ON THE MEDIA TO HAVE THE FULL STORY CORRECT. I read the article, with an appropriate and well earned grain of salt- im just not willing to accept the story is all that accurate yet- How long do you have to be in this industry before you realize there's usually a lot more to a news story about aviation?

Doubtful is was just the gate agent saving the day

You realize that the rest of the industry disagrees wholeheartedly with the East's position- but you lose credibility when you start throwing pilots under the bus based on 1 article-

Probably help credibility also to not have 6 of the first 14 posts acting giddy about catching an east guy messing up

The NIC award will prevail, and you will always be an idiot.

Wave, thanks for your input. One good thing this crew did was question the pilot, and that lead to a successful outcome. But, if true, there must have been other mistakes to allow a clown like this guy down into the airplane. Also, the issue of the Nic award will continue to be pushed here because it is HUGE for our industry. I will continue to bring it up until this issue is solved, most likely with the NIC in place. It's the right thing to do.

Remember, this is the same press that reports planes spending "hours on the runway." I'd take all these "facts" with a big grain of salt.

So when east pilot shoot holes in airplanes, throw tantrums because they couldn't start an APU, go off-roading at BDL, and now blow off j/s protocols, you think that's just being biased, eh? The east needs a wholesale overhaul of their attitudes and compliance with SOP based on their history.

Can any of them ever be held accountable for anything????

I don't consider them pilots. When they (all east USAPA supporters) are finally held to account for the damage they have done, then we can begin to heal, but not before.

It's no wonder the two union cars they bought are named TAR-US.
