There aren't many F-16's to start with, so 10 min of extra gas to provide some CAS to the poor saps on the ground is good, isn't it?

There are plenty of F-16's out there...www.af.mil will provide you with the exact number in the inventory, if I remember right

Not sure about the F-35...again you can probably find out more info on that somewhere on the net.
