Read over on another forum that Expressjet is anticipating some growth in the new year. Seems like a lot of upgrades have been confirmed and there have been hints of getting more planes. Any Expressjet guys here know anything?
 
Hmm.. Let's see... We are in contract negotiations so the timing for mgmt to blow smoke up our butts with promised growth and aircraft seems about right.
 
UAX grows for know on the xjet side, but wait til ScabJets comes a 'callin and underbids flying while contract negotiations are underway. They've already plundered and pillaged the DCI flying. UAX will be next, just wait and see...
 
36 projected upgrades turned into 64 on this bid that was posted today. Grumblings of growth from our union reps over here... We also continue to lose an avg of 15 guys a month due to attrition. I was told today expect an avg of 30 new hires and 15 upgrades a month throughout 2012. If this contract on the 12 or 15 or whatever number airplanes with united is renewed next week DEN base is likely.

If your talking about Gojet, haven't they already been "underbidding" UAX flying for years?

Yea cuz gojet is cheape operation and a good one too. What's your point? At least it's not buying flying like Skywest inc. which is worse buying or undercutting?

You do realize that "buying flying" isn't the same as pay to play, but rather an investment made which generates its own returns separate from a capacity lift agreement, right?

As for what's "worse"...well I'd say that's a patter of perspective if you work at GoJet and have to justify your and your company's actions now isn't it?

how many have we upgraded this year? 12? we're at about a 6 year upgrade and rising right? Nice that someone will be growing
 
If they come over they keep longevity for pay and vacation. They are at the bottom of the list until the two lists are merged, then their old ASA seniority kicks in to land them in the new, combined list. Sounds better than a furlough if you ask me. To each their own I suppose.

Same deal that was given to the Expressjet furloughs that went to ASA. Seems fair enough to me.

Why not? The company seems not to care much about the CRJ side while the ERJ flying is locked in for at least a few more months while you and I continue to sit in the right seat for 6+ years. Nothing against the XJET guys personally, but they need to pay REAL close attention to whats happening here, because this is the new normal and managements 8 ball is out of batteries. Management has done a real good job of getting the pilot groups pis*ed off at each other, instead of the collective being pis*ed at the real culprits, our "leadership" team.

Yep it actually is. They could hit the street. Just like you allowed XJT furloughs to come to ASA at the bottom of the list.

You misunderstand my sarcasm. I'm not against or unhappy that they are allowing CRJ guys to go to the ERJ side, I'm unhappy that they're doing this at all... They're stalling the contracts when they need to get this dang thing done and the SLI done yesterday, NO one should have to go to the street or to the bottom of anyone else's list. We have a single certificate now, ERJ needs pilots, CRJ is supposedly overstaffed *cough*BS*cough*, ERJ is upgrading gangbusters while CRJ is stagnant... It's gloom and doom on the CRJ side and happy frappyness (embellishment) on the ERJ side.

I'd call you a name too but I won't stoop to your level

None of this means anything compared to the big picture.
asa pilots to express and vice versa.
The IMPORTANT thing is that we are all still employed.
Who cares what the inept asa management style is.
We wont give away the farm for a new horse.
Just keep your eye on the ball people as the , "company", tries the shell game during the negotiations which by the way, are progressing despite the company dragging their feet on some sections.
sky west will only allow so much of this crap as it erodes the profit.
Let's all hope that the retirements kick in and they can have this mess all to themselves.

The unions need to agree before progress can be made.

That's what I've been hearing. The two MECs can't agree and that is what's stalling negotiations.

Yup, so much for the ALPA "brotherhood"

Pilots like to blame everyone else for their problems. They blame management, then they blame the consumer, then the government, then gate agent, then ramper, then hotel can driver etc etc. It as be proven over and over again that pilots are their own worst enemy. It utterly rediculous that two pilot groups from the same union can't see common ground.

Point being that if Gojet underbids (nothing wrong with that), then why don't they do more UAX flying since they've been doing it for years already?
 
All good regionals are going to loose. Comair has been for 5 years. ASA is next. Expressjet will happen when the contract expires. Gojets of the world will take all of the flying. Very sad. It's the next Mesa.

Each MEC has to represent each pilot group which have different priorities.

For instance, the XJT group hates PBS and the xjt MEC is slowly trying to educate the pilot group on the positives of PBS but it will be very very difficult to get PBS passed in a joint contract.

There's no point on our MECs agreeing to something that the pilot group will reject.
 
Is ASA's mec trying to educate the pilots on xjet's contract?

I am not so much for or against either contract? If we go with PBS, I want it to be because it is better. I don't want our guys selling PBS just because it's "their baby" or just to win the battle.

I hope everyone is taking a fair look at both.
 
I would love to hear more about Expressjets bidding method. But our MEC isn't interested in educating us.

I think they consider PBS their baby and benefit from it. They don't want to entertain the idea of any other system.
