Yo Cynic;

Angry People do not impress me; do you always get this way
on Memorial Day?

Have a beer, relax, and enjoy the fact that you have it all
figured out. Myself and the rest of the people on this forum
will tough it out until, we too, figure it out just like you have.

Well spoken C12Bubba. I echo what you said about MOST of the fine folks on this board. (See English...I didn't call you a gent) :)

Bubba, I look forward to meeting you this summer when I too begin training. Sorry I have to compete with you for IAH though. When do you expect to start? You can PM me if you want.

That's Capt. Idiot to you pal.

I think I saw that Cynic guy at the training center last week..

He left early. :)

I’d like to personally thank you and every other working for peanuts pilot out there for taking the job. I had an interview and offer with Express Jet but turned it down. It looks like first year pay is maybe 18K. Add in the fact that you get paid nothing while in training and you might make 15K a year. Ahh yes, but then there is the $1.40 per-diem. So if you sit on the ground for 10 hours you get an extra $15.00.

Do you think you will be treated better later on; or have you just set a defacto standard for acceptable treatment and pay?

But hey, if you didn’t take that job somebody else would right? Or are you that guy?

Will you wine when you can’t get a decent paying job later on because there are none thanks to YOU?

Will you be surprised when you find yourself flying with idiots that are no fun to talk to all day because you get what you pay for with employees too?

I’m not angry… I enjoyed my brief stint as a professional pilot and I’d do it again. I am disappointed and I will laugh and laugh and laugh when you guys figure out what happened.

The majors will fly international routes only. (or did that already happen?)

There are fewer than a few hundred “Major” airline pilots that are ALL retired ex-military. (or did that already happen?)

The best you can hope for is 75K after 20 years and no retirement. (or did that already happen?)

Thank YOU for not getting hired.

OK tough guy... Proove it then. Why don't you tell us who you interviewed with, when, how it went and how many other supposed jobs you turned down.

Interview coordinator is Dawn, I can send you a copy of the word document with the tmie grid you get if you'd like.

I'll give all the other detail when you guys post YOUR full real names and contact info.... or is that different?

COEX is the only offer I got. Not even an interview from ASA or Comair, but I think at this point the buddy system or an expensive academy gets you into those places.

You guys need to watch Dr. Phil. He says we TEACH people how to treat us. What did you teach mgmt by taking a job at or below poverty.

What impacts will that have on other places in the industry?

Again, thanks again for taking that job because if you didn't well then they might have to pay more.... you are THAT guy that ruins it for the rest of us and you'll get treated accordingly by mgmt.

cynic,

Do you only do research on a company after you interview? You didn't know what the pay was when you applied? ORW DID DE BIIG BAAD INTRVEEWRRS MAKE YOO GO HOOOMMMM WIDOUT A JOB HMMM?
Don't cry, flight instructing can be very lucrative....

Cynic,
Why exactly did you even apply to Ex-Jet then?

C-12 Bubba,
Congratulations on getting hired! I'm sure your really excited. Don't let anyone steal your joy. Of course, keep things in perspective. The bar certainly needs to be raised.

To echo what others have said - IAH would probably be the best. Aside from being the easier commute, IAH is experiencing enormous growth right now. You would probably end up holding a line a lot quicker in IAH that any of the other bases.

Good luck

I applied because I'm nuts and I wanted to not take the job because I turned it down, not because I couldn't get it. So that’s why. And actually I thought everyone was rather nice during the interview. Its not the interviewer’s fault bozos keep taking these jobs for poverty wages.

And ACTUALLY, I made more as a CFI last year than I would have as an ExpressJet pilot.

So back to my original point....

A great big THANKS for taking that job. You win, you'll work for less!

cynic,

If you would have gotten off your pedistal, taken the job, and put your efforts to work on the inside maybe there would be change. But no, you had to turn down the job to make yourself feel much better. You aren't going to stoop to that level, and make peanuts wages at the airlines. By gosh, why would you do such a thing? It's fools like you who are the problem. Not the Pft-ers. You could get in there and use your "I'm worth more" attitude to force change, but instead leave that spot for someone so eager to fly a jet that they'll do it for $15K a year.

Everyone here thinks if you turn down the jobs then it will force changes in pay. Not so. There will always be some jokesters to swoop in and take that job for less. The solution is to get in and force change from the inside, when at least you have some pull. But then, that would take unity, something severely lacking in the current industry.

I apologize C-12bubba for the hijack. [/rant][/hijack]

No, Thank YOU, Cynic....

For not taking the job (if there really was an offer).

Just please don't spit in my Whopper........

DICKHEAD

Because I pointed out that COEX pilots are practically working for free, or because I made more than 17K last year as a CFI (which is nothing to brag about) or because I find it frustrating that pilots always undercut each other for some strange reason?

Which of those makes me the jerk?
