Does it seem...

Does it seem like missing the phone call gets you bypassed for a phone interview?

That seems like a strange way to weed out potential candidates!

Why would you want to give up the X? : )

What's the purpose of repeating the deice announcement ? That sounds so stupid to ask someone to read back something that is already in print?

As I was told from someone in the know, it's quite simply to make sure that said applicant can read and speak English and follow directions. Kinda dumb but whatever. United used to have some BS like this where you had to follow a bunch of directions first to see if you were "worthy".

No positions?

I missed the call too. Filled out the survey mon, got the call yesterday. Called them today and they said they don't have any positions open right now. Weird. Guess they got enough people the last two days for now. No word on when they'd get back to me, just the usual "don't call us, we'll call you." Didn't even get to showcase my best PA voice. Like was said earlier, hope I didn't get passed up because I was at work when they called. For reference times are 2200TT, 750 multi.

I got the call yesterday, looks like there was about a three hour window (1530-1830 Pacific) when you had to be available. We'll see where it goes from here.

Recieved the call last night at around 6pm (UNKNOWN Caller ID) called back at 620pm.... same questions as above and now we wait...........

Times 1900 TT 550ME

Good Luck everyone.................

Had 2 missed calls w/unknown caller ID. So I called the number we were given on the web site.
Gal answered identifing herself as senior recruiter. Asked ref number. Then asked my SS# and if ok by me to use that number in the future. Said to drop the ref # and now use my SS # when calling. She then wanted to verify phone numbers. I asked if they were setting interviews at this time. Answered as no but to expect a call after the 1st. Maybe sooner but because of the Holidays she doubted it.
Who knows the rhyme or reason to the questions and answers they give? Only time will tell!!!

For all of you guys picking up XJT interviews;

If ya don't mind, give the rest of us some idea of where jobs might be opening up after you leave your current position, Airnet, Ram, etc.

Now that the line is starting to move a little maybe some of us can retire as 172 captains!

Good luck on the interviews.

I did miss the call, but returned it as soon as I hit the ground. I guess they were vacuuming people up fast. My times are 2200 total and 630 multi. I'm currently a starchecker, and I'm not sure yet if I really want to leave. Any of you XJ guys that can pass along knowledge on work conditions, management, current condition of soon-to-be contract it certainly would help. Thanks.

I concur with everything already posted, got the call Tuesday 6pmish CST, was getting my 9 hours of rest since I fly all night, called them back Wednesday morning after my flight, BUT, I didn't get any questions, BUT, after they verified everything, they said, "Well, that was easy, expect a call to interview anywhere from 1-90 days, and don't be afraid to call us back and check up, we want you keep you informed of our progress." So I guess we'll see, QUESTION, wonder if I interview eventually and they offer me a job? I have a contract that I can't break right know, will they let me contact them after my contract is over? I guess we'll see, anyways, my TT is 2700, 600ME, 1000Turbine. Easily 300 hours in the past 90 days.

I got the called an hour ago same questions and reading of the script she also told i was going to be contacted by senior recruiter in 50 to 90 days for an interview appointment .
She also said that upgrading is 3 to 4yrs and if that would be acceptable for me.
Good luck to everyone.

I'll be very suprised if that upgrade time holds up. I'm 4th year and on deep reserve.

i was hired in july of 99 and just held 135ca (less pay than 145 unless i actually fly the 145) on the last bid..ill be deep reserve ca for about 6 mos

3 years deep reserve don't even bother to bid..11 days off no weekends, 3 am phone liability, haven't sat arc in 3 months, made about 30 grand this year. left ball itches...That is all...Can't wait for new classes so maybe I can hold a line...Trip trading WTF is that??? Line improvement WTF is that? Its 8:26 am and I'm having a gin and tonic and some oatmeal...Life is grand at xjet...
OK out to piss on the neighbors flowers....

Oh and the UPS and Fedex truck are always over at the girlfriends house and my dog tries to bite me whenever I see him (or hump my leg)

Just to clarify what someone said above about not hiring furloughed pilots -- What the company has actually stated is that they will not hire any furloughed "Mainline Carrier" pilots as they seem to be the highest risk to cut and run if recalls commenced throughout the industry.

If you're on furlough from a National or a Regional (I'll go out on a limb and say "flying anything 50 seats or smaller") then by all means apply to ExpressJet.

We are currently in contract negotiations overseen by a Federal Mediator and have settled 15 sections for our upcoming contract.

Once all sections are settled, the entire package will be approved/disapproved by the pilot group thru democratic process.

Recently, we have been actively negotiating on the "tough stuff" -- Compensation, Scheduling, Scope, Retirement. There are a few small open items in other sections.

Our Negotiating Committee and ALPA advisors did an excellent job of representing, to managment, our pilots' belief that we are a different or "hybrid" airline -- making comparisons from everyone from Mesa and CHQ to Southwest, Airtran, and JetBlue to show how we are more like some (SWA, ATN, JBLU, COM) and less like others (CHQ, MESA). They compared more than just equip types and seats.......but included true economic indicators of airline perfomance and health (RASM, CASM, ASM, RPM, etc.).

The assistance that we have received from the ALPA E&FA Department has been outstanding to say the least.

No doubt about it.....ExpressJet pilots want a contract that breaks the 50-seat carrier paradigm and we're gonna have to fight hard to get it.

I believe the solidarity and resolve of this pilot group will rival what the professional men and women of Comair did in 2001. They did a d@mn good job of raising the bar and narrowing the disparity between Mainline and Regional pay and our pilots stand to close the gap.

But that should not deter anyone from coming here. Many of us, myself included, were hired during this exact same point in negotiations for Contract '97. Sure, managment tried to "scare" us into thinking we wouldn't have a job but they knew it's effect was limited since we couldn't vote yet and we were all just trying to stay off anyone's radar.

Your domicile as a new-hire will be determined by your seniority within your class (by age) and current staffing needs after all vacancies have first been offered to current line pilots.

During 2004, the IAH domicile is going to see massive growth, EWR will experience moderate growth, and CLE will see a little growth as well.

Where you are based will determine how long you sit reserve. I'm not even gonna shoot a number out there because any number of factors could change it overnight.

Currently, a September '99 hire holds the junior CA position so looking at that it's about 4.5 years to upgrade but to echo what CaptJim said above that could come down as a result of CAL Mainline recalls and possible feed for other carriers.

As far as how it is to work here -- based on what I've learned from counterparts at Mesaba, Pinnacle, Comair, ASA, ACA, Mesa, and TransStates -- it ain't so bad at ExpressJet. Sure we're working on a Contract that became amendable in Oct. '01 and has a lot of room to improve, but our managment team (for the most part) seems to have it's head screwed on straight and we have a pretty good deal going here....sure there are some naysayers who will tell you that this is the worst place on earth...but they're just bitter people and wouldn't be happy anywhere :)

Sorry this was so long but hopefully it helps some out with making a possible carreer decision.
