3rd year Emirates B777 F.O.

820 hours (hard work - 3rd world, back-side of clock, ultra-long haul, etc)

$92,450 (tax free)

Per Diem: Not sure, we get an envelope with local currency on check-in. e.g. 48 hr IAH = $165, 3 day Luanda = $500, 24hr moscow $85. Never have to hit the ATM unless its a "big" night.

Five bathroom villa with maids quarters in gated commumity = free.

All utilities = free (including gas for your outdoor BBQ)

Pvt education for kids free or heavily subsidized depending on school.

Chaufeur driven Volvo/Audi sedan to work = free

Universal family healthcare - almost free.

In-flight dining & service - top-notch. (I make sure I eat caviar, smoked salmon &fillet mignon at least once a week - coz it would be rude not to)

777 upgrade running at four years (for guys of my vintage that is. Today 7-8yrs)

BUT...drum roll...

...It aint Kansas over here.

Happy for now, but tip my hat to the boys at SWA

General Lee says that kind of flying was easy. Now I am confused.

Thanks for the chuckle. I found that pretty funny.

Good luck to all in 2011.

Where are the Airtran guys and their reports?

Gup

It's funny, a few years ago you guys where the bottom of the barrel as
far as pay and benefits.

Now, You seem to revel in every one else's problems.

Maybe that's why you never where hired by a "First Rate" airline.

A little humility, and an appreciation of the time others have put
into their careers would be in order.

No "Seat-Grab" Windfall.

I think that may be a bit of an exaggeration. "A few years ago" SWA pilots were not the industry leaders, but we also were not the "bottom of the barrel." There were plenty of other airlines that were far behind us....like AirTran. Now, we are the industry leaders, and have recently moved those rates even higher, all while keeping the tightest scope language in the industry. If that sounds like bragging, then I apologize....but that's the facts. It's what we've done for the profession lately. How about a little less dwelling in the past and a little more credit for recent events?

Now, You seem to revel in every one else's problems.
No, Gup was just making a valid observation and asking a valid question. Do you have an answer?

Maybe that's why you never where hired by a "First Rate" airline.
What is your definition of a "First Rate" airline? Do you presently work for a "First Rate" airline? If so, which one?

A little humility, and an appreciation of the time others have put
into their careers would be in order.

No "Seat-Grab" Windfall.
Again, Gup was just making a valid observation and asking a valid question. Do you have an answer?

Just check my last in pay stub in December. $274,376 on 638 block. 15k in retro at 16 years at SWA. Last year at MESA made $29,123 on 976 block in 94' on the 1900! Not good or divine just damn lucky.......so far....................

You know how the east and west blowhards would turn every thread into a big east v west pissing contest that got so annoying the mods had to step in-

How about we not get to that point?

B6 A320 FO
4th/5th year
$102K
No RSAs = Reserve Assignmet Pickups at Premium (150%) 4.2 hours or whatever you flew...whichever was greater.
No FLICA alerts = Flight Line Crew Access or similar to your elit system (sp?). Alerts text or email you when a trip with stated parameters falls into open time.
No PTO sold = Person Time Off bank. We can sell a certain amount per month or per year depending on how much you have banked. Some guys will bank 200 hours (9-12 hours accrued a month) and at the end of the year after saving for a few years will sell back a huge chunk for thousands.

Thanx. Was not familiar.

Do you sell the PTO back at the higher rate. ie. accrue on 2 year pay and sell back at 4 year pay? If so, good deal.

Yes, but most guys can't (understandably) because they use it as they accumulate it in order to improve their commutes and QOL. When we sell it back it's at our "premium" (150%) rates. The best move someone can make is to hoard it the year before they upgrade and then use it at their new left-seat rate.

Sorry about that. I see Longhorn explained, but what I was essentially saying is all I did was fly my line. I didn't game the system and try to squeeze every last dime out of it. I'm too lazy for that. I just want to fly my line and go home. I posted it mainly to show what an average, slightly above mid-seniority B6 Airbus FO makes. Guys my seniority that want to really hustle can make $130-140K. I've heard of folks breaking $150K, but that's the extreme exception. A typical 5th year Airbus FO at JetBlue will make $100-110K.

...1/2 yr 2nd yr pay 1/2 year 3rd year pay. Reserve Pilot flew 762 hrs. Very little "extra time" stuck to my schedule. $132K.
