Everyone knows Delta pilots are a cut above the rest of us and the most professional and competent pilots in the industry. If you don't believe me, just ask the General. If I were at NWA, I would eagerly take a pay cut or sacrifice some seniority for the honor of wearing a Delta uniform and maybe even get to jerk the gear for the General someday. That would be so awesome!...gives me goosebumps just thinking about it!

Don't forget about the hat!

More SPIN from General Lee

"Delta has the best aircraft on order and we have millions in the bank. Our management is so awesome and we cannot be bought by anyone. Our fleet is the best of any airline and everyone else is just flying old crap. When we buy you, you will all be stapled and just be lucky to pull gear for me someday in our 777-300er's. Remember Delta has MILLIONS and Millions in the bank and it doesn't matter how much oil is cause we have the world's greatest management and our union is going to save us in any situation."

Jesus dude, give it a freakin rest. Stop the spin cycle already and get real....!!!

Thanks Zip for your diatribe. Look at the name of this thread. You do NOT have to look at it if you don't want to. Just predictions. Nobody really knows what will happen, but it is interesting to watch and comment. That is what this board is about. All I can say was WOW to what has happened so far in the last 24 hours. Exciting stuff. You have to admit it, our union (DALPA) sure has some interesting stuff up their sleeves. We'll see how it all works out.....bye now.

Remember, I will pay for the third and fifth beers. And, I will walkaround the plane when it is between 75 and 80 degrees, as long as it is dry. Also, wearing the Delta uniform causes pilots to become chick magnets. Every young naive girl would love to "be wit" a Russian U-boat Commander. And are you sure you ONLY get goosebumps, or is that a banana in your pants? Hey, I don't go that way-----not that there is anything WRONG with that. Peace!

Been in and out of ATL many years ago with Midway Airlines and look forward to being back again some day. I do miss the southern cooking.

Be nice if DL and NWA could break the mold, move forward together as a unified group and use that massive international revenue to put the arrogant folks from Love Field squarely in the crosshairs.

I imagine in real life he is an even bigger tool. Probably that quiet weirdo that nobody likes or even talks to....

Wow, I just cried a tear, and then burped. Anyway, I think you should direct your anger at your Merger Committee Chairman. He is still sitting comfortably in his A330 going to NRT, while you are sweating it. He really blew it for you guys. Hopefully he is replaced.

I think we could try a DC9 Super HUB at LBB. Think about it, we could use 68 DC9s to overrun the place, and kick Southwest OUT. We could have hourly service to beautiful cities like Harlingen, Midland, and maybe Amarillo. I'd bid that in a heartbeat! That would be fantastic!

can't believe this hasn't been posted on this thread already

Delta, pilots reach deal on contract: report
Thursday April 10, 7:18 pm ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL - News) and its pilots union have tentatively agreed on a contract that would give pilots a pay raise and an equity stake if the carrier were to merge with Northwest Airlines (NYSE:NWA - News), according to a Bloomberg report late on Thursday.

Northwest and Delta would not confirm the report that Delta had negotiated a separate deal with its 7,000 pilots. Northwest's 5,000 pilots would be asked to join under a single contract later.

The apparent deal is another sign that Delta and Northwest could move forward with their plans to create the world's largest airline as early as next week.

The deal does not resolve the sticking point that prevented Delta and Northwest from proposing a merger in the first place last month -- how pilots from both airlines would resolve seniority issues and work together under one company.

In fact, the two pilot groups had agreed during their negotiations on seniority to back a proposal for higher pay and a stake in the combined carrier.

Sorting out seniority could take months to complete or even wait until after a merger is finalized.

Both pilot groups, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), have said they would not support consolidation unless terms of a deal were favorable to them.

Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the talks, said the combined company would retain the Delta name, its Atlanta headquarters, and be run by Delta Chief Executive Richard Anderson. Those three elements were part of the original plan as well.

The merger would include a small premium for Northwest investors, Bloomberg reported.

On the New York Stock Exchange, Delta closed up 9.4 percent at $9.75, while Northwest climbed 12.6 percent to $10.87.

So when is the official announcement from Hotlanta finally going to made? Let me guess....Monday?

Yup, Monday, next week......or the next week, or maybe....not.

Monday

Merger agreements are almost exclusively announced on Mondays. Don't know exactly why. The bankruptcy epidemic really should have lit a fire under both DAL/NWA Boards of directors and CEO's. Financing could dry completely up in days not weeks.

Think of it this way, they already shot an approach down to mins and missed. Bingo fuel and they must now shoot a Cat III at their alternate. Hey guys let's hold some more and see if it improves!

My bet is on Monday 4/14.
