What is that suppose to mean? I'm thinking of going to Delta for personal reasons that benefit me and my family. It has nothing to do with the culture of JetBlue or Delta. Just because someone wants to leave JetBlue to go to Delta doesn't mean that they think JetBlue is horrible and Delta is the best deal in town. JetBlue is great, but I think Delta may be better. Going to Delta means no commute, better pay, better retirement, better work rules, and better seniority dynamics. Staying at JetBlue would only give me better job security. I'm willing to risk the one for the other 5 because I have options outside this industry if I need to use them. And how do you know what culture I would fit into? Obviously I fit into the JetBlue culture or I wouldn't be here, right?? I did respect you up until that last post.

Better job security at Jetblue? Not when the weather goes below 40 degrees and gets cloudy.......

More like Gary the retard from the Howard Stern show!

Ah, pure comedic genius. I can't compete with that. You win. Delta wins. Hell, maybe even the Atlanta Braves win.

Back to bushhogging.

They are trying to give you four weeks, but if you stated that you needed less than a two week notice you could get called if a slot opened up.
IE anywhere up to a month out.

What planes are they offering each class? Also, is the seniority based off of age now or is it based off of the last 4 of your social security? Are most of the people going to NYC?

Bye Bye--General Lee

All are getting the 88 or the 737-800 as of now. Some will be getting the 767-ER out of class in the near future. Seniorty is based off of the last 4 of your social, with lowest being the most senior. Also, everyone has gone to NYC, but very few want to stay. It seems that most want to come back to ATL.

Hey Bavarian Chef, you guys still having trouble filling classes? People are leaving JB quicker than a rain storm cancelling your flights!
I think the problem was that they didn't cancel the flights. They were paralyzed by indecision. I hear they are trying to do much better now.

A lot of JB people coming back here, I wonder if its because they didn't fit in with your culture over there?

They probably got tired of cleaning the cabins during a turn.;)

anewunion how is class. Are you still not willing to help us little guys out with a little system help?

I thought the higher the number the more senior you were.

I thought the higher the number the more senior you were.

Just like United, a 0134 number would be senior to a 9756 number. I wish it was like that when I got hired way back when---I would have 30 more people behind me.....

This is what the contract says.....

2. Seniority numbers will be assigned to individuals on the first day of their new-hire training in the following order:
a. Company transferees will be assigned the lowest seniority numbers within the class,
in order of their most recent date of employment with the Company, then
b. New-hires will be assigned seniority numbers on the basis of the last four digits of each individual’s social security number. Individuals with the higher numbers will be assigned the lowest seniority numbers.

1500tt/1100 turbine, no TPIC - mostly military and a little part 121 - Would I be wasting my time applying?

Military guys can get in with that. That is why the mins are there. Do it now. Beat all of your buddies that will be coming out of the military in the next 18-24 months. All they can say is no.

If you meet these minimum qualifications and you were military trained, you would not be wasting your time by applying. Good Luck.:)

Basic qualifications for pilot employment at Delta Air Lines are:
  • At least twenty-one years of age.
  • A graduate of a four-year degree program from a college or university accredited by a recognized accrediting organization. Postgraduate education will be given favorable consideration.
  • Currently hold a FAA commercial fixed-wing pilot license with an instrument rating.
  • A current FAA ATP written exam at time of interview.
  • Minimum of 1,200 hours of total documented flight time.
  • Minimum of 1,000 hours of fixed wing turboprop or turbofan time.

Note: When evaluating the flight time of applicants meeting the basic qualifications, consideration will be given to, among other things, quality, quantity, recency, and verifiability of training; complexity of aircraft flown; types of flight operations; hours flown as PIC; and recency and extent of flying experience. Applicants invited to interview must provide appropriate documentation of all flight hours.
  • A current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
  • Able to pass a DOT required pre-employment drug test and a medical exam administered by Delta.
  • A current passport or other travel documents enabling the bearer to freely exit and reenter the U.S. (multiple reentry status) and be legally eligible to work in the U.S. (possess proper working documents).
  • Able to pass a TSA required fingerprint based Criminal History Records Check and a Delta background check.

I don't thing going to boot camp qualifies as military. Assuming this, how would you have 1100 turbine and no PIC in the military?

Curious, why in the next 18-24 months?

Marines: 1996-2003
Air National Guard: 2003-present
1100 turbine: roughly 500hrs KC135 (upgrade is 800hrs minimun), 200+ from UPT, the rest part 121.

You will get a call very quickly. Delta loves military guys and if you meet the mins you will get a shout. There are not too many of ya around at the present time.

Hey y'all-

It's pretty clear that Delta is partial to military folks, which is fine. Just kind of wondering though, how are the chances for a civilian guy these days? I've got about 7000 hours TT and about 3000 121 PIC. Appreciate any insight!

With the guys that have been in the last few classes, I think that you have a decent chance. I would suggest doing IOE or something above and beyond line flying. Most of the folks that did not have major connections at Delta, were doing theses types of job functions.

My guess. Merger with NWA, which will go relative posistion. So, with the amount of hiring DAL has planned if you get hired soon, your 2007-2008 doh could slot you in with a 1999-2000 doh with the red-headed step children.

We have an entitlement out. It shows about 150 73Ns and MD-88s in ATL for new hires, along with 40 NYC 767 Int'l. These 767s wouldn't go to new hires; you'd have to first check out on the 73N or 88, but, the last few bids didn't fill the 767s in NY so, I'd imagine anyone willing to train again could probably successfully bid it the next AE that came out.

Does anyone know if those new hire positions on the 7ng and the 88 (that are for new hire positions, are biddable in the AE) or is that where they are going to stick the new hires that are coming off of the street in those slots?

Every spot is bidable. The reason it's on the AE is to give you a chance to bid it before they assign it to a new hire.
