Delta New Hire Class

Does anyone know how to find out when to expect a class up date after the conditional job offer at Delta. Is there an HR rep that deals with the new hires?

Rumor has it that the list of those with offers will be depleted by the end of May.

There is nothing official but I would expect to see DAL go to at least two classes a month starting in May or June.

You could call the woman that is listed on you offer of employment letter, but she cannot give out a date. It does not matter when you interviewed. DAL will call you as they see fit. The want a certain demographic in each class and if you were the last one interviewed and you fit it you could get in the next class. There is no seniority in the pool. Most get called in order, but some get calls sooner than others. Either way you will be here soon, and glad that this is the decision that you made.
On a side note, this place is going to take off. They are lean and mean, and will not do something unless it makes sense for them long term. It is quite a departure from the old Delta.

After May I expect 40 new hires a month. Could be 200 this year to 700 this year. All of it depends on Delta after bankruptcy. There is a plan in place for markets, aircraft acquisition and utilization, and customer service. As these things take shape, Delta will too.

yes, the brother of one of my buddies got a call last week for an interview the first week of may.

My buddy interviewed Wednesday and Thursday of last week. Delta hired five out of six that interviewed. He was told to expect a class in June so yes Delta is hiring strong.

Even after two concessionary contracts, I think DALs is better than CALs. What does that tell you?

CAL has hired 1200 pilots in the last 2 yrs. DAL is just beginning.

CAL has 2030 retirements from '06 to '16. That's nearly 1/2 the seniority list retiring. But if the age changes to 65....

Tough call, I'd lean more towards DAL than CAL if I were in your shoes considering the 1200 pilots you'd be hired behind over the past 24 mos if you were to go with CAL.

It does not matter how many were hired anywhere in the last two years.

Looking back is just sour grapes and causes poor decision making due to jealousy.

What matters is what is happening now and in the future.

It may not be easy, but you have to avoid getting caught up in the "what if I had been hired last year" way of thinking. It is counterproductive to making the most out of the rest of your career

They are both dream jobs for me and I don't think I can go wrong with either one. Also, I live within driving distance of NYC so commuting is not an issue.

What matters is career projections for someone hired this year. Contracts can change, pilot demographics can not.

Go to the DAL interview if you can. If you don't make it... at least you're on at CAL. If DAL hires you... THEN you have a tough decision. The thing about DAL is they'll tell you if you got the job or not on the first day of the interview. Can't hurt to go.
