Oh wow, just 2-3 years to get a seat back in ATL? Gee, I feel better now.

Maybe you can go to Guam and start a new family. (just don't tell your current wife....)

Bye Bye--General Lee

Really. Where would the old DelDa be getting D.I.P. financing about now? You did a lousy job restructuring in Ch-11. Have one of the worst cash/revenue ratio's. NWA had one of the best. The SLI was a wash and DelDa gains every year from now on. Sorry USAir didn't buy you.

D.I.P. financing? That is something you only get in bankruptcy. Are you suggesting Delta is headed to CH11?

DAL and NWA were in BK. They filed the same day in the same court. They could have, and probably did, get additional financing for the merger.

I said worst case. Just wait and see. IF the economy turns you can leave that 50% DC0B to the new hire who will be happy as heck to be here, and on top of that get weekends off.

Hey ACL- Getting back to the original subject of this thread, I had a question. Do you (or anyone for that matter) know if the hiring, when it resumes will be different at all? I have a friend who interviewed in Feb. of 07. He made it through both days. He then got a phone call a week or so later saying "no thanks." He never received a letter at all after that call. I have other friends that received letters saying try us in 6 months or don't call us again. Supposedly it was the shrink/mmpi. Is it possible at all to try the interview again or would he simply be just wasting time hoping to get on with us. I want to offer encouragement but if it is a dead issue I would like to see him move on. Any info I could give him would help a lot. Thanks guys.

If he was told to come back in six months do it. I am sure it was the Cog, as if you dorked up the Psyche you are done. That has never changed.

As for what they may or may not do, it is conjure. There is no hiring dept, there are not employees of a hiring dept, and legal has no department to make a ruling for, ergo there is no way to know the answers to the questions you are asking. It is that simple.

When there is the above, legal will make their decision, and then we will have something to discuss. It has to be this way due to lots of guys that would sue for a job. It does not make sense, but it is what it is, and yes, DAL has been sued. Not the best way to get a job.

I was told to come back in 6 months and did and got the job, so I know they mean it when the tell you that. His only question was would he have a shot, because he was not told ANYthing about reinterviewing. He didn't even get a letter.

Heyas,

NWA and DAL probably shared a cab ride to the courthouse. The merger was in the works long before that. One peek at who the "new" DAL CEO and the NWA Widget paint job should have had all the warning they needed.

Anyone that doesn't think so is naive. After the SLI talks fell apart, anyone that thought that the deal was off because the council 44 reps said so deserved the surprise they got.

No one on the NWA side was surprised. No one.

The bid will be out in a few days. It will close after single operating certificate is effective (the jan 1). Results would be out shortly afterward.

If they say to call, then call. It is a lead. Back in 98 when I got the lead I called. I was told too light on PIC but call in 6 months. I put the date in my phone and 6 months to the day called. I was then told ,"You are OK on PIC but we are only hiring 10 a month. At 4000tt, you are not competitive. Call in 6 months". Six months later I called and was told, "We are now hiring 100 a month for the forseeable future. So, if you don't get a letter within a month, call me back". The letter came two days later.

Now at 11 years here, my advice is USE ALL LEADS and take advantage of whatever you can. Very few of us are god's gift to aviation and need to create our own opportunities.

Bid will be out on friday.... all the as advertised stuff, plus more ATL767 domestic displacements. I hear there may be other surprises as well.

Delta's CFO: Revenue Will Take Off in 2010By Ted Reed 12/09/09 - 09:56 AM EST Loading Comments... Add Comment
Stock quotes in this article: DAL
ATLANTA (TheStreet) -- As the airline industry recovers from recession, Delta(DAL Quote) is seeing "revenue strength above our expectations" during the current quarter, said CFO Hank Halter. Halter spoke Wednesday at an investor conference. He said the carrier is seeing continuing gradual improvements in revenue per available seat mile, a key financial measure for airlines. RASM was down 23% in June and down 11% in October, with single digit deterioration in November. Halter said the number will likely turn positive next year, "likely in the front half of 2010." Meanwhile, he said, the carrier has benefitted from synergies enabled by its 2008 merger with Northwest, which Halter called "the smoothest merger in airline history." It was apparently the first time a Delta executive publicly issued such a strong endorsement of the merger process.
Halter noted that Delta's maintenance business produces about $500 million annually in revenue, performing maintenance for other operators, making it the largest airline-operated third-party maintenance operation in the United States.

DAL has done classes of 25-50. With the flow agreements, bigger classes will allow for more guys from the outside.

AE today. 900~ displacements and ~1000 new positions.

Dunno. During the last BIG hiring boom in the late 90s-early 2000s, classes had 25-30 with 2 or 3 going at a time. When things were slow, classes had as few as 10. I think in 2007/8, classes had 25 with one going a month.

If the bid that comes out today (?) has net vacancies, MAYBE there will be hiring this Spring. If it has a net surplus, then I wouldn't expect hiring.

Does the difference between those numbers imply that they could use 100 extra pilots for the summer schedule?
