DASH 8-400 (Q400) drivers?

We had a pilot who was almost fired because the crew after him ran off the runway and a review of the CVR revealed that this guy was listening to an AM station on the ADF all the way down to landing.

You mean our Chief pilot was almost fired?

On a slightly different topic, are the Q400s often weight restricted or can you easily carry a full boat and a jumpseater? Just trying to figure out how that's going to work in EWR with Colgan.

That video pretty removed removed any suspicion of pilot error...but thanks for the alpa plug!


I noticed the gear doors were open, an indication of a manual gear extension.

They still could have botched that procedure...

I watched a Q-400 turn an 8 mile final in PDX yesterday at 4000 feet. I would have bet a lot of money that they were going to have to go around. By our TCAS readout, they had it on glidepath at 500 feet and landed in the TDZ no problem. Quite amazing.
