Ive had stints in corporate av. At least half the time it's for pleasure- no one's confused by that. A good and necessary business tool- sometimes. The problem is when millionaire's use the tax loophole designed to give a break for the plane's business use and now extend it to their vacation in Tahiti. Closing loophole's isn't anti-business, it's pro-middle class.

I still pay a nice chunk of property tax to the State of Texas while my home sits for sale. I do have to file my taxes every year to Uncle Sugar. Funny how my foreign mates don't have to report Foreign earned income to their home country. Didn't we have a revolution over taxes?

About the middle class- how many industries will benefit when I return to the States to pick up a new Gulfstream? Think of the money for training, hotel, rental car, etc. I am also gonna knock out an annual recurrent on the Challenger while I am there. Again, more hotels, rental cars, etc. I plan on flying on SWA (I think your a SWA pilot ) for several of the flights and the remainder on American. This equates to more money to the economy. Not to mention the money to the Hotel bar when I am done with all my training events.

Business jets ought to get a tax break when furthering the reach and productivity of businesses. That's good policy. Not so much for trips to Tahiti.
I am truly biased bc I went to school with legacy money- and tutored kids who had been on vacation their entire lives. Literally never had a job, until they graduated with their B- mediocrity and daddy could hook them up. I don't feel it is American to be born into privilege and live a vacation of a life without being productive. I think it's wrong. And please wake up to the fact there are countless thousands living that very life at the expense of the American middle class as we choose and vote for tax policies that separate the rich from the rest of us by ever increasing means. (ever catch one of those sweet 16 party reality shows?- that exists by the thousands.) entitlement is an issue. Im concerned by looters at all ends of the wealth spectrum. But the kid who wants a sandwich and a chance to break the poverty cycle is a hell of a lot more important to me than the rich kid who fully expects a BMW and fake boobs as graduation gifts.
The rich get richer.
I'm sure rich people on vacation does create certain jobs- but how great would the economy be if everyone lived that unproductively?
Money is two things. Scarce resources and sweat equity. I don't argue for the folks who don't work, OR REWARD THEMSELVES IN EXCESS OF THE WORK THEY PERFORMED.

Well I sure as hell don't want to pay higher taxes while somebody is getting a tax write off for using a corporate jet or Hedge Fund manager who makes millions get's any tax breaks. That said, I don't want my airline getting taxed any more as that does have an effect on me. That's the dilemma.

One thing about Reagan's trickle down economics. It doesn't work when left unchecked by the Government. Todays CEO's, whose compensation has risen at an unprecedented rate and is way under taxed, are not job creators, they have gotten those bonus's more often than not by slashing jobs and sending them overseas or just by slashing jobs period.
Since 1970 Median executive pay has risen 430%. Our corporate profits have grown over 250 percent. The average wages of the American worker has risen just 26%. That is very wrong.

The worst is the fat people who expect you to lift up arm rest! Sorry buddy...ain't gonna happen! If you're so big that you require the arm rest up or and belt extender, you're most likely making some other passengers ride uncomfortable!

Had a huge dude sit down next me one time, so big that I literally had the use of about 3/4 of my seat. I had a cramp before we even took off! Dude ran out of breath trying to stand up out of his seat. Then tons o' fun, pulls out a bag of Doritos (full size bag), and eats the whole thing! On top of that he obviously was never taught to chew with his mouth closed....worst 4.5 hours, in a plane, of my life.

Another thing I hate is the people who walk back the isle and make no attempt to not hit anyone.

You do realize that 99% of those biz jet in ASE aren't depreciating their jet or deducting the cost of the trip, don't you? Please tell me you actually know this and aren't simply relaying the liberal dems feel good talking points. We want to hear your expertise. Please.

A number of friends who structure corporate llcs for flight departments and individual aircraft owners. They all tell me that not a single client deducts any trip that could even be possibly considered as personal in nature. In fact, all I have heard from them is that most aircraft operators won't even touch any sort of asset depreciation as they know they will be crucified unless it's absolutely obvious that the usage is 100% business related. No one wants to be the guinea pig and lose the aircraft. They also say tight records are kept with pax, locations, businesses visited, etc.
From what they tell me, they could do away with aircraft depreciation or extend depreciation schedules and flying wouldn't fall off much. Any "losses" from lack of write offs would simply be passed along to consumers. Revenues generated by the government would be negligible.
